Job summary

Tryon Medical Partners is seeking a Project Manager, Construction and Design to lead capital construction and renovation initiatives. You will drive feasibility, design, permitting, construction, and close-out, coordinating scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role partners with Clinical, Operations, IT, Facilities, Procurement, and Finance to align projects with clinical needs and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive healthcare construction and medical office development experience.
  • PMP, LEED AP, and/or CHC certification preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end construction and renovation projects, including medical builds and ASC projects.
  • Lead scope, schedule, budget, and milestone management; provide status updates to Director.
  • Coordinate feasibility, design, permitting, commissioning, and project close-out.
  • Identify risks early and elevate with recommended resolutions.
  • Oversee vendor/architect/engineer coordination and site visits.
  • Support contract administration and budget tracking with finance.

Project Manager, Construction and Design

The Project Manager, Construction and Design supports the Director of Construction and Design in executing capital construction and renovation projects across Tryon Medical Partners. This role manages all facets of assigned projects — from feasibility and design through permitting, construction, and close‑out — serving as the day-to-day lead on scope, schedule, budget, vendor coordination, and site execution. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards, while keeping the Director and key stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Primary Job Responsbilities
Project Execution & Coordination
  • Manage assigned construction and renovation projects end-to-end, including medical office builds, advanced diagnostics buildouts, and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) projects
  • Own the day-to-day management of project scope, schedule, budget, and milestones for assigned projects
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, design development, permitting, construction, commissioning, and project close-out activities
  • Identify project risks and issues early, and elevate to the Director along with recommended resolutions
  • Maintain detailed project schedules and tracking logs, and provide regular status updates to the Director
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialty consultants on assigned projects
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and contractors on assigned projects, escalating major decisions to the Director as needed
  • Monitor vendor performance against contractual obligations, safety standards, and quality expectations
  • Conduct or support regular site walks, progress meetings, and punch‑list reviews
Financial & Contract Support
  • Support development and ongoing tracking of project budgets in collaboration with the Director and Finance
  • Review and process change orders, pay applications, and invoices for accuracy and budget compliance
  • Track project financial performance and prepare budget status reports and forecasts
  • Support contract administration for construction‑related agreements on assigned projects
Regulatory, Safety & Compliance
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including building codes, life safety, ADA, OSHA, and healthcare‑specific requirements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to confirm projects meet clinical, operational, and regulatory standards
  • Monitor construction site safety practices and compliance with organizational policies
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Clinical, Operations, IT, Facilities, Procurement, and Finance teams to keep assigned projects aligned with organizational and clinical needs
  • Provide clear, timely communication and status reporting to the Director and other stakeholders
  • Support the Director in scalable facility planning and design standards that enable long‑term growth
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in healthcare construction and medical office development, including experience in outpatient clinical environments preferred
  • PMP, LEED AP, and/or Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects
Knowledge and Skills
  • Working knowledge of healthcare construction codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards
  • Strong vendor management, contract administration, and budget‑tracking skills
  • Comfort with financial analysis, project reporting, and cross‑functional communication
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools
Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office‑based with frequent on‑site visits to active construction projects
  • Periodic travel within the Charlotte region and surrounding markets as needed
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds
  • Ability to concentrate on details
  • Use of computers for long periods of time
