Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking a Project Manager for a Syracuse-based, on-site role with a respected commercial contractor. You will take ownership of projects from planning through to completion, coordinating with clients, consultants and site teams to ensure timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial construction project management, strong scheduling, cost control and procurement skills, and the ability to lead with integrity from an office base with regular visits

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
• Strong project management and commercial skills, including scheduling, estimating, procurement, contracts, change orders and project cost management.
• Confident leader and communicator with client and team relationships as a priority.
• Long-term, hands-on professional with integrity, detail-oriented and quality-focused, office-based with regular site visits.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from planning and development through to completion, taking ownership of schedules, costs, procurement, contracts, change orders and project closeout.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and vendors, acting as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead project teams and coordinate site activity, working with Superintendents to ensure high standards of quality and delivery.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities, communicating clearly across the team in a fast-paced office-based environment.

Are you a Project Manager with commercial building construction experience looking for a long-term opportunity with a renowned and established contractor that operates more a as a family-owned business?

THE ROLE

• Manage commercial construction projects from planning and development through to completion, taking ownership of schedules, costs, procurement, contracts, change orders and project closeout.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and vendors, acting as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead project teams and coordinate site activity, working closely with Superintendents, reviewing projects in the field and maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.
• Manage multiple projects and competing priorities, responding quickly to changes and ensuring clear communication across the project team in a fast-paced, office-based environment.

THE PERSON

• 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience, with a strong understanding of the full building process and ideally experience across ground-up construction and renovations.
• Strong project management and commercial skills, including scheduling, estimating, procurement, contracts, change orders and project cost management.
• A confident leader and communicator, able to build relationships with clients and project teams while demonstrating strong negotiation, organisation and critical-thinking skills.
• A long-term, hands‑on professional with high integrity, attention to detail and a quality‑focused approach, who is comfortable working from the office with regular visits to active jobsites.
