Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design seeks a Project Manager - Commercial Architecture to join our Buildings Engineering Services team in Houston, TX. You will guide projects through technical and administrative direction, maintaining client communication to ensure contract compliance and successful delivery.

Our architecture team integrates MEP, design, and planning with strong QA/QC practices, mentoring junior staff and collaborating with in-house and external consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture or equivalent to maintain licensed architect status.
  • 8-10+ years of experience as an Architect.
  • Licensure in the state of Texas required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit for preliminary and schematic designs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of effective work plans and labor budgets.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects.
  • Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
  • Negotiate scope changes with clients subject to supervisor approval.
  • Ensure QA/QC standards are followed and project procedures are adhered to.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Project Manager - Commercial Architecture to join our Buildings Engineering Services team in Houston, TX! You will assist in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects through constant communication with the client to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the contract.

Our team of talented and creative architects work closely as trusted partners with our clients throughout the design process to realize a jointly conceived vision. We offer a full range of services from preliminary planning and feasibility studies through final design and construction inspection for both full build-out, renovations and adaptive reuse projects. Our markets include commercial development, warehousing, pre K-12 and higher education, science and technology, municipal and public works agencies, offices and corporate facilities, and retail and food.

Our in-house team of architects, interior designers, engineers, and planners skillfully balance design constraints with the clients\' needs and desired outcome. This creates collaborative, dynamic and timeless designs. Our professionals also provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design; programming, corporate branding, standards integration, workstation specification, facilities and construction management support, energy solutions, and LEED certification. Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparation of effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by supervisor.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy client.
  • Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
  • Participate in or hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing the review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work.
  • Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisor\'s approval.
  • Ensure all project work is performed and completed in accordance with QA/QC standards, systems and procedures as designated for project.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (i.e. Project team meeting).
  • Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-established goal.
  • Assist with mentoring junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Assist with the preparation for public hearings, meetings and any other presentations in relation to current projects.
  • Works efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to client. Follows up with clients for timely payments.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s and/or Master\'s Degree in Architecture or equivalent work experience as required to maintain licensed architect status.
  • 8-10+ years of experience as an Architect.
  • Licensure in the state of Texas required.
  • Previous use and understanding of AutoCAD and Revit design software with the ability to produce preliminary and schematic designs in AutoCAD at a minimum, but Revit is desired.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Willingness to mentor team members on technical and professional skills.
  • Previous business development and project management experience preferred in planning and executing design/construction projects.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with other managers and leadership, clients, in-house and outside consultants.
  • Client facing experience.
  • Ability to work primarily independently.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to client sites and meetings.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
