Job summary

Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corp. in Danbury, CT is seeking a mid-level to senior Project Manager (Combustion) to own project profitability and schedules.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers across electrical, mechanical, systems, programming, and field service to drive projects from concept through finished design and startup. The role emphasizes strong communication, proactive leadership, and hands-on management of budgets, submittals, fabrication, and timelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing of custom engineered equipment.
• Burner or Boiler system experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with burner management systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
• Be able to interpret electrical, mechanical and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design Development from Proposal to finished Engineering Package.
• Communicate with customers and provide status updates on projects.
• Manage project schedule, budget, and profitability.
• Collaborate with engineering team across disciplines to execute from sales to manufacturing and field startup.
• Interpret and adhere to applicable codes and standards.
• Interpret electrical, mechanical and construction drawings.
• Use internal project management systems.
• Travel 10% for meetings and site visits.

Mid-level to Senior Project Manager position highly motivated and willing to “hit the ground running”. Preferred Utilities is a manufacturer and supplier of combustion and fuel oil systems with headquarters in Danbury CT. With over a hundred years as a family run business we offer made in the USA products in all areas of combustion and fuel oil systems.

A project manager owns the profitability and the schedule of projects. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, that is motivated and proactive. The ideal candidate will be capable of working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers including electrical, mechanical, systems, programing, and field service engineers. You will have complete ownership of a project from a sales concept to a finished design. This includes managing project budgets, submittals, fabrication, and schedules.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design Development from Proposal to finished Engineering Package
• Communicate with all customers and provide status updates on projects.
• Manage project schedule, budget, and profitability.
• Work with Engineering team of all disciplines to execute projects from sales to manufacturing and field startup.
• Interpret and adhere to applicable codes and standards.
• Interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, and construction drawings.
• Use Preferred Utilities internal systems for project management.
• Slight travel for meetings and site visits 10%

Basic Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing of custom engineered equipment. (Burner or Boiler system experience is a plus).
• Minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar.
• Familiarity with burner management systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Be familiar with DraftSight, AutoCAD or similar.
• Project management and good customer skills.
