Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex capital improvement and industrial construction projects from initial concept through commissioning and final closeout. This individual will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within approved budgets, and in accordance with technical, contractual, and quality standards.

The Project Manager will coordinate internal stakeholders, engineering partners, contractors, equipment suppliers, and operational teams while managing multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously. This role is well suited for someone with a strong background in industrial construction, engineering, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or EPC project environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of large capital projects, including feasibility analysis, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that establish scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Build and lead cross-functional project teams involving engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, environmental health and safety, and other business functions.
  • Partner with senior leadership and operational stakeholders to ensure projects support business priorities and long-term investment objectives.
  • Prepare scopes of work, preliminary cost estimates, feasibility studies, financial analyses, and supporting documentation for capital funding approval.
  • Present project recommendations, expenditure requests, status updates, and risk assessments to plant and corporate leadership.
  • Review engineering drawings, design packages, technical specifications, and equipment requirements for accuracy, constructability, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the selection of equipment, technologies, engineering firms, contractors, and other third-party partners.
  • Manage outside engineering consultants and contractors, including design deliverables, field activities, inspections, installation, performance, and contract compliance.
  • Establish project controls for schedule, cost, scope, quality, documentation, and change management.
  • Track project spending, forecasts, commitments, invoices, and financial performance against approved budgets.
  • Identify potential technical, operational, financial, scheduling, environmental, and safety risks and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Monitor equipment fabrication, testing, shipping, and delivery to support construction and installation schedules.
  • Oversee system commissioning, start-up activities, performance testing, acceptance, and turnover to operational teams.
  • Coordinate training, documentation, operating procedures, and knowledge transfer for employees responsible for newly installed systems.
  • Manage multiple complex projects concurrently while communicating progress, challenges, decisions, and upcoming milestones to stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work complies with applicable company policies, industry standards, environmental requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least eight years of construction, engineering, or capital project experience.
  • A minimum of three years serving in a formal Project Manager capacity.
  • Significant experience managing large industrial capital projects within environments such as power, utilities, heavy manufacturing, steel, oil and gas, infrastructure, renewable energy, or industrial construction.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from early-stage development through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of project scope, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contractor management, and change control.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, construction documents, and technical proposals.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, environmental requirements, construction standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams without relying on direct reporting authority.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
