Job summary

Environmental Allies, LLC is seeking a Civil Project Manager to supervise and coordinate complex civil projects in Houston. You will lead project teams, interface with owners, designers, vendors, and subcontractors, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and safety requirements under OSHA and internal policies.

A degree in civil engineering or construction management with 5–8 years of experience, including TxDOT and major highway work, is required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Civil Project Manager provides overall supervision and coordination of assigned projects, under the direction of an Operations Manager or President, involving the interfacing of structures, roadway, and other civil operations. This position plans and schedules the resources required to complete projects ahead of schedule and below estimated cost. The role requires strong leadership capability and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with owners, designers, vendors, and subcontractors, while holding the project team accountable for compliance with OSHA regulations and internal policies and procedures. The position also requires competency in contract interpretation and risk management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administration
  • Direct all job personnel in the implementation of EEO, safety, and preventive maintenance policies.
  • Analyze and update cost information on job cost reporting data.
  • Review all billings to ensure accurate reflection of job cost.
  • Submit regular billings to owners and general contractors to ensure prompt payment.
  • Process all change orders as required by project owners, including the detail necessary for job cost reporting software.
  • Maintain profit/loss accountability for individual projects, including job cost controls established by the construction manager, and take proactive measures to meet or beat budgeted costs.
  • Present and discuss change order needs with owners and owners' representatives.
Construction
  • Read and interpret owner's drawings and specifications, ensuring staff and subcontractors understand all specific job requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate all resources needed to complete the project.
  • Monitor self-performed work to ensure labor and equipment resources align with project needs.
  • Review daily time sheets to ensure accurate job cost data.
  • Create and maintain the general project schedule, updating it as the job progresses or changes.
  • Create a ten-day detailed schedule and update it weekly.
  • Provide personnel and subcontractor personnel with sufficient notice to ensure work is started on schedule.
  • Order and properly allocate cost for all material resources needed to complete the project.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the construction industry, with demonstrated project experience in TxDOT and major highway work.
  • Project management experience in aviation, heavy civil, and/or major highway construction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Sound knowledge of contract documents, risk management principles, and construction cost accounting.
  • Proficiency with job cost reporting and scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and sound judgment in managing project teams.
