Job summary

Hannum Wagle & Cline Engineering, Inc. (HWC) in Indianapolis, IN, seeks a qualified Project Manager with 6+ years in bridge design to lead design efforts on transportation projects.

You will manage design teams, perform engineering calculations, and coordinate with INDOT, local agencies, and private clients. The role requires a PE license in Indiana or eligibility, a strong background in rural–urban bridges, and proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads/ORD, and bridge software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 6+ years’ bridge design and project management experience.
• Professional Engineering License in Indiana or ability to obtain licensure in Indiana.
• Design skills for rural, urban, and interstate bridges; roadway design; cost estimating; VE.
• Knowledge of NEPA requirements for federally funded projects.
• Proven working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads/ORD, and MS Office.
• Proven working knowledge of bridge design software Merlin-Dash, Vslab, Conspan/Leap Bridge, or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Lead as project manager and lead designer on bridge and structural projects.
• Perform design calculations for roadway and bridge components.
• Oversee end-to-end design including survey, roadway line/grade, hydraulics, environmental, geotechnical, structural design, letting and construction.
• Create design sketches and perform related technical work.
• Lead design teams and manage PE’s, EIs, and Technicians on INDOT, Local Agency, and private projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Prepare cost estimates and manage overall project budgets.
• Coordinate with consulting firms, INDOT staff and local government agencies.

• Work as a project manager and lead designer on bridge and structural projects.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 6+ years’ bridge design and Project Management experience.
• Professional Engineering License in Indiana or the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Indiana.
• Design skills including rural, urban, and interstate bridges, roadway design, cost estimating, special provisions, specifications and value engineering.
• Knowledge of NEPA requirements for federally funded projects.
• Proven working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads or ORD, and MS Office software.
• Proven working knowledge of bridge design software including Merlin-Dash, Vslab, Conspan/Leap Bridge, or equivalents.
• Ability to think critically, manage time, and problem solve.
• Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
• Complete competence working well independently and on a team.
• Applicant must possess high ethical standards, have a strong sense of commitment to self-development, teamwork, and a desire to work in a deadline-driven team environment in both in-office and remote settings.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Experience working with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and/or the INDOT LPA program.
• Experience working with Indianapolis DPW.
• Experience in Utility Coordination and/or Railroad Coordination.
• Experience in Asset Management
• Additional experience in structural design including water treatment plant structures, above and below ground structures, retaining walls, flood walls, occupancy related structures, and foundations is preferred.
