ARCO is seeking a BAS Controls Project Manager to join the team in Chicago, IL. You will lead projects from design through completion, oversee DDC/PLC/SCADA programming, review technical documentation, and coordinate with clients and design teams to deliver fully integrated control solutions.

The role emphasizes problem-solving, field installation, and active participation in growing ARCO’s self-perform controls services on diverse project types, with a culture focused on fairness and inclusion.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of DDC or industrial controls experience.
• Strong understanding of control systems architecture, including DDC controllers, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, instrumentation, field devices, control panels, and communications networks.
• Experience with Tridium Niagara platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of a project from preconstruction through closeout, including controls design, buyout, installation, and commissioning.
• Oversee DDC, PLC, and SCADA programming, including point mapping, sequence implementation, testing strategy, graphics coordination, and field integration support.
• Review control narratives, shop drawings, panel layouts, submittals, and as-built documentation for accuracy and scope.
• Support equipment and controls buyout, including instrumentation selection, controller architecture, vendor evaluations, and procurement planning.
• Direct field installation activities for low-voltage controls systems, including device placement, wiring coordination, control panel installation, communications infrastructure, and point-to-point verification.
• Work closely with clients and design team to deliver ARCO’s fully integrated model on ARCO’s most complex projects.
• Operate as a leading contributor in growing ARCO’s self-perform controls services.
• Troubleshooting is a major element; guide issues from discovery to final resolution.
• Project types include Mission Critical, Advanced Manufacturing, Power & Gas Infrastructure, Municipal and Private Water Treatment, etc.
• Find a way to make the construction process FUN for your clients and trade partners without sacrificing QUALITY or SAFETY.

Typical base compensation for the Project Manager role is between $84,000.00 and $160,000.00. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company performance.

Requirements

• Preferred 5-10 years of DDC or industrial controls experience.
• Strong understanding of control systems architecture, including DDC controllers, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, instrumentation, field devices, control panels, and communications networks.
• Experience with Tridium Niagara platform.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with different types of individuals.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles (HVAC, thermodynamics, heat transfer, process engineering).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to successfully work on own.
• Comfortable with spending time on construction jobsite – 25% to 50%.
• Familiar with construction practices and principles.
