GIS Project Manager 3

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven GIS Project Manager 3 to lead and deliver enterprise GIS and technology solutions within the natural gas utility and pipeline sector. This role will work directly with both clients and internal technical teams to ensure successful implementation, high-quality deliverables, and strong long-term partnerships. The ideal candidate has deep project management expertise, a solid background in GIS or IT, and is familiar with utility infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead requirements gathering by engaging clients to assess business needs, current state, and future objectives

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple GIS-related projects, ensuring scope, timelines, and budget goals are met

• Collaborate with internal GIS professionals to create tailored, scalable, and efficient solutions

• Serve as a trusted advisor to utility clients, providing strategic guidance on integrating GIS into business workflows

• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including task assignments, timelines, deliverables, and quality control procedures

• Provide clear, timely updates to stakeholders and escalate risks or changes in scope as needed

• Ensure project documentation, lessons learned, and reusable templates are created for future project efficiency

• Champion continuous improvement strategies and innovative solutions that support long-term customer value

• Promote and support business development initiatives, including pre-sales engagement and proposal development

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• PMP or GISP certification is required

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in GIS or IT solution delivery

• Excellent leadership, organizational, and team collaboration skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Proficient in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and tools (MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.)

• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and delivering enterprise GIS solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in the Natural Gas Utility or Pipeline industry

• Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS platform and related GIS technologies

• Experience with data integration, geospatial analysis, asset management, or utility network management systems

• Business acumen to align GIS solutions with utility goals and regulatory requirements
