Job summary

Southern Company Services seeks an experienced Project Manager II with a strong background in power generation, power delivery, renewable energy, or heavy industrial projects. The role requires 5–10 years of project management experience and at least 5 years in relevant energy environments, with travel across the Southern Company service territory.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of project management experience.
• 5+ years of experience in power generation, power delivery, renewable energy, or heavy industrial environments.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Proficiency with project management software and tools.
• Knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Southern Company service territory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource plans.
• Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate activities across engineering, operations, construction, and other stakeholders.
• Track project costs and ensure work remains within approved budgets.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Monitor schedules, deliverables, and overall project performance.
• Manage scope changes and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Resolve project issues and elevate critical concerns when necessary.
• Implement appropriate project management methodologies and best practices.
• Ensure quality standards and project requirements are met.
• Lead project closeout activities, stakeholder sign-off, and lessons-learned reviews.

• Knowledge of project management methodologies including Agile and/or Scrum.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
• Must be willing to travel throughout the Southern Company service territory for project work.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or other recognized project management certification.
• Utility or energy industry project management experience.
• Experience with power plant, transmission, renewable energy, construction, or capital improvement projects.
