Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead strategic technology deployments across enterprise systems. You will drive projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with researchers, staff, and partners.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of PM experience, strong communication and analytical skills, and a track record in Agile environments, UAT, and web development with Java/Drupal.

  • Experience being both a Project Manager and Business Analyst on the same project is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile Software Development Lifecycle Process, including incremental/iterative and Waterfall methods.
  • Ability to manage work on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience overseeing user acceptance testing and providing test cases/test scenarios for UAT.
  • Experience working with web application development teams who use technologies such as Java and Drupal.
  • Excellent organizational experience and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Experience working in research/educational institutions or small IT companies preferred.

Short Description

Under broad supervision, manages projects through full life cycle from project definition through implementation of project deliverables. Creates collaborative partnership with all internal and external team members to accomplish the deliverables.

Complete Description

The Senior Project Manager will join the Enterprise Systems Department (ESD) at Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) focusing on the strategic implementation of new technology solutions or supporting the existing ones. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to execute projects within scope, budget and schedule.

We are open to fully remote candidates as long as they reside in the US.

Candidate must be a US CITIZEN to be considered for this position.

While the intent may be a long-term tenure, this position is subject to annual budget restrictions. The initial contract is through the end of this fiscal year and is anticipated to be renewed July 1st.

Project Management core responsibilities include time and resource management, scope management, issue and risk management, project execution. This person plans, directs, and monitors the work produced by the team(s). He or she is responsible for managing stakeholder relationships, including general, ongoing communications, negotiation of scope and schedule changes, key risks, issue resolution, and ongoing progress reporting. The Project Manager will shape client expectations, and manage scope, risk and budget related to the project. This person must have a broad knowledge of project management best practices and be able to proactively identify potential project risks and proactively consult with key stakeholders and departmental leadership on how to develop and execute mitigation strategies.

Projects supporting researchers and staff internally at GTRI as well as for the entire campus, including proposal management, compliance tools, researcher dashboards, talent management software, and financial applications

Project types include in-house Java development, web development, Cognos reports, Jira Service desk management and implementation, support of third‑party software, enterprise systems integration, as well as database and systems infrastructure projects.

Education

A Bachelors or Masters degree is required: Preferred degree in Business, Accounting, or IT-related field.

Project Management certification (PMP) preferred
