Job summary

Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA seeks a Project Manager to own a subset of a major defense program within the Weapon Systems business area. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery while maintaining program integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or similar discipline.
• 3+ years of experience on project teams, including scheduling and risk management.
• Technical aptitude to navigate engineering conversations and support decisions.
• Proficiency in MS Office for analysis, formulas, pivot tables, and reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Special Access approval.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate financial, technical, and schedule performance for engineering development activities.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams.
• Manage projects in the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and analyze critical paths.
• Support CAMs in execution to a baseline budget with Estimates to Complete and variance reporting.
• Coordinate with procurement to align material with program timelines.
• Provide timely program communications and resolve customer issues.
• Assist with proposal generation and submittal to the customer.

About This Role

The Weapon Systems business is seeking a Project Manager for the Wilmington, MA location. The Project Manager will own a subset of a major defense program, under the supervisor of a Program Manager, and work within a highly collaborative and dynamic Program Office. This role requires strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills to ensure effective program execution in a dynamic, fast-paced, technically intensive engineering and manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be action-oriented, high-energy, and able to apply strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills while communicating clearly and collaborating effectively.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will have responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

• Coordinating financial, technical, and schedule performance across complex engineering development activities to deliver technically sound solutions that meet evolving program and contract requirements.
• Driving cross functional technical alignment and resolving dependencies across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams.
• Managing projects in the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), including all cross functional dependencies, to develop a comprehensive understanding of critical paths and key program drivers.
• Supporting Control Account Managers (CAMs) in execution to a baseline budget – ensuring accurate Estimates to Complete and robust variance reporting from all CAMs supporting a subset of the program.
• Coordinate with the internal procurement organization to provide program updates and manage changes, ensuring material procurement aligns with established program timelines
• Supporting internal and external stakeholder engagement by providing timely program communications and delivering reliable problem solving to resolve customer issues.
• Assisting with proposal generation and submittal to the customer.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply Chain, or similar discipline required.
• 3+ years of experience working on project teams, inclusive of project schedule development / monitoring and risk management.
• Technical aptitude and the capability to navigate complex engineering conversations and support informed decision making across technical disciplines.
• Proficiency in MS office to perform detailed analysis, develop and utilize advanced formulas, pivot tables, reports, charts, schedules, and databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven capability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and drive cross functional alignment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Active Secret clearance with an ability to obtain Special Access approval

Desired Skills

• 2+ years of experience in formal project or program management roles.
• Technical professional experience
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
• Knowledge of risk and opportunity management practices.
• Experience supporting or developing proposals.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Supply Chain and the supplier base.
• PMP certification or equivalent credential preferred.
• Prior U.S. military, defense, or aerospace industry experience preferred.
