Job summary

Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Project Manager to own a subset of a major defense program within the Weapon Systems business area. You will coordinate financial, technical, and schedule performance across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams, while maintaining IMS baselines and delivering against contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or similar discipline required.
• 3+ years of experience working on project teams, inclusive of project schedule development / monitoring and risk management.
• Technical aptitude and the capability to navigate complex engineering conversations and support informed decision making across technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating financial, technical, and schedule performance across complex engineering development activities to deliver technically sound solutions that meet evolving program and contract requirements.
• Driving cross functional technical alignment and resolving dependencies across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams.
• Managing projects in the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), including all cross functional dependencies, to develop a comprehensive understanding of critical paths and key program drivers.
• Supporting Control Account Managers (CAMs) in execution to a baseline budget – ensuring accurate Estimates to Complete and robust variance reporting from all CAMs supporting a subset of the program.
• Coordinate with the internal procurement organization to provide program updates and manage changes, ensuring material procurement aligns with established program timelines
• Supporting internal and external stakeholder engagement by providing timely program communications and delivering reliable problem solving to resolve customer issues.
• Assisting with proposal generation and submittal to the customer.

About This Role

The Weapon Systems business is seeking a Project Manager for the Wilmington, MA location. The Project Manager will own a subset of a major defense program, under the supervisor of a Program Manager, and work within a highly collaborative and dynamic Program Office.

This role requires strong organization, teamwork, and communication skills to ensure effective program execution in a dynamic, fast—paced, technically intensive engineering and manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be action—oriented, high—energy, and able to apply strong problem—solving and critical—thinking skills while communicating clearly and collaborating effectively.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager will have responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply Chain, or similar discipline required.
• 3+ years of experience working on project teams, inclusive of project schedule development / monitoring and risk management.
• Technical aptitude and the capability to navigate complex engineering conversations and support informed decision making across technical disciplines.
• Proficiency in MS office to perform detailed analysis, develop and utilize advanced formulas, pivot tables, reports, charts, schedules, and databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven capability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and drive cross functional alignment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Active Secret clearance with an ability to obtain Special Access approval

Desired Skills

• 2+ years of experience in formal project or program management roles.
• Technical professional experience
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
• Knowledge of risk and opportunity management practices.
• Experience supporting or developing proposals.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Supply Chain and the supplier base.
• PMP certification or equivalent credential preferred.
• Prior U.S. military, defense, or aerospace industry experience preferred.
