Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of project management experience leading cross-functional marketing, digital or technology initiatives.
  • Experience managing website redesigns, digital implementations or enterprise-level projects preferred.
  • Experience coordinating external agencies, consultants and vendors.
  • Strong understanding of website development lifecycles, UX and digital content workflows.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms such as Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com or equivalent.
  • Experience working in Agile and traditional project management environments.
  • PMP, Agile certification or equivalent project management training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects, including major one-time initiatives and recurring organizational programs.
  • Lead day-to-day project management for complex, cross-functional initiatives such as website redesigns and brand implementation.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies and governance for these initiatives, including executive reporting.
  • Build repeatable planning frameworks for recurring organizational programs and major events to improve cycle time.
  • Facilitate project meetings by preparing agendas, documenting decisions and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, agency partners and vendors to keep deliverables and milestones moving forward.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and resource constraints, and escalate as needed.
  • Maintain project management tools, dashboards and documentation for visibility across teams.
  • Develop and refine project management processes, templates and best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Lead project retrospectives and implement lessons learned to improve execution.

Summary:

The Project Manager leads the planning, coordination and execution of complex, cross-functional work across Communications, Marketing, Digital and Research at U.S. Travel. This role manages a portfolio of high-priority initiatives spanning multiple teams and functions, from major one-time efforts, such as the ustravel.org website redesign and brand identity implementation, to recurring programs.

This person serves as the central point of coordination across internal teams, agency partners and vendors. They establish clear project governance—plans, roles, timelines and decision points—and manage stakeholder communication throughout. The role brings structure, accountability and transparency to multiple concurrent workstreams while proactively identifying risks, resolving roadblocks and keeping work moving forward.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects, including both major one-time initiatives and recurring organizational programs, with significant support for marketing, digital and communications initiatives.
  • Lead day-to-day project management for complex, cross-functional initiatives, such as the U.S. Travel website redesign and brand implementation.

Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of project management experience leading complex, cross-functional marketing, digital or technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing website redesigns, digital implementations or other enterprise-level projects preferred but not required.
  • Experience coordinating external agencies, consultants and vendors.
  • Strong understanding of website development lifecycles, UX and digital content workflows.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms such as Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com or equivalent.
  • Experience working in Agile and traditional project management environments and adapting the approach based on the needs of the project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • PMP, Agile certification or equivalent project management training preferred but not required.
Other:
  • Position is based in Washington, D.C. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Moderate travel (up to five times per year) required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Salary: 85-95K with bonus potential.
