Job summary

ASIBACC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil construction projects from planning through closeout. You will work with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, owners, and agencies to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role emphasizes ownership: address issues promptly, anticipate problems, and guide teams through changing conditions. Strong communication and decision-making are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent construction experience.
• 5–10 years of construction PM or project engineering experience.
• Heavy civil, DOT, municipal infrastructure experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of earthwork, drainage, structures, and utilities.
• Experience with costs, forecasting, contract administration, change orders, and schedules.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specs, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, scheduling software, and CM platforms.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Effective communication with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Sound judgment and practical problem-solving in changing construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage heavy civil projects from award through closeout, including buyout, procurement, execution, change management, and final docs.
• Establish budgets, cost controls, forecasts, and monthly cost reporting.
• Monitor performance and address cost or schedule variances early.
• Prepare and process change orders, directives, subcontractor agreements, and related docs.
• Develop and maintain project schedules with field and project controls.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and contracts for conflicts needing resolution.
• Manage RFIs and design questions affecting execution.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, and material deliveries with field sequence.
• Lead project meetings with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Work with field team on permits, utility coordination, constructability, and site changes.
• Oversee quality docs, as-builts, pay estimates, and project records.
• Direct and develop project engineers and build a strong project team.
• Maintain clear office-field communication for timely decisions.
• Keep projects focused on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and contract terms.

The Opportunity

ASIBACC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil construction projects from initial planning through final closeout.

Our projects involve complex infrastructure work where strong project management requires the PM needs to understand what is happening in the field, know where the project is headed, recognize problems before they become expensive, and keep the entire team moving toward the same objective.

You will work closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, agencies, and internal teams while maintaining responsibility for project performance.

This is a position for someone who wants to take ownership. When something needs attention, you address it. When conditions change, you make a decision. When a problem is developing, you get in front of it.

What You’ll Own

• Manage assigned heavy civil projects from award through closeout, including buyout, procurement, execution, change management, and final documentation.


• Establish and maintain project budgets, cost controls, forecasts, and monthly cost reporting.


• Monitor project performance and identify cost or schedule variances early enough to take corrective action.


• Prepare, negotiate, and process change orders, work directives, subcontractor agreements, and related contract documentation.


• Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Superintendent, Project Engineer, and project controls.


• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and contract requirements and identify conflicts or issues requiring resolution.


• Manage RFIs, design questions, and other issues affecting project execution.

Compensation & Benefits

• $115,000-$165,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

Location & Work Environment

This position is based at ASIBACC’s Castleton, NY office with regular travel to active construction projects as required.

The role requires meaningful interaction with the field. This is not a position that can be effectively performed entirely from an office.
