Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead on-site activities for large Data Center projects in North America. You will ensure cost-effective execution, safety compliance, and timely delivery, coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and customers.

The role requires 10+ years in project/construction management, a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering (PMP optional), and up to 30% travel. Strong MS Office skills and UPS/STU/PDU commissioning knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; PMP certification or equivalent work experience will be considered in place of Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of experience working in project and/or construction management or field service (data center or large-scale construction experience strongly preferred).
  • Must be able to be available to travel up to an estimated 30% of the time.
  • Advanced level of ability to use Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong understanding of UPS, STS and PDU equipment site commissioning is preferred.
  • Candidate is expected to reside in one of the listed areas and regularly visit construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Supports rapidly growing Data Center’s Smart Power by startup and leading all on-site activities for large/complex project site work to ensure cost-effective execution per contract specs, quality, schedule and safety requirements during start-up, construction and commissioning.
  • Manages on-site presence throughout the project to ensure coordination and smooth execution of all work activities.
  • Plans project on-site activities with Site Team including local resources, equipment, and milestones.
  • Manages budget for on-site activities to meet margin targets.
  • Coordinates agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy.
  • Handles customer complaints or concerns quickly and professionally, in alignment with the Service.
  • Quality Manager to maintain good customer relationships.

This position reports to:

Senior Project Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support our rapidly growing Data Center’s Smart Power. Startup and lead all on-site activities for large/complex project site work to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements during the start-up, construction and/or erection, and commissioning phase. Each day, you will manage on-site presence throughout the project, ensuring coordination and smooth execution of all work activities.

The work model for the role is

This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in North America.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Ensures detailed and up-to-date site Health & Safety (H&S) plan is in place with respect to each work package, compliant with the ABB H&S plan.
  • Manages the ABB technicians and sub-contractors across multiple sites to ensure necessary quality and progress achieved to meet delivery date and agreed standards.
  • Plans project on-site activities with Site Team including necessary local resources, equipment, an milestones.
  • Manages budget for on-site activities ensuring margin targets are met.
  • Coordinates agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $100,500 and $160,800 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
