GO Contracting is seeking a Project Manager to oversee 5 to 7 active commercial interior projects from turnover through closeout in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. You will manage schedules, crews, procurement, and communications with general contractors to protect margins and keep work moving.
You bring 4+ years of project leadership in interiors (framing, drywall, ceilings) and a track record of independent decision‑making.
We are a commercial interior finishes subcontractor in DFW, and we are hiring one Project Manager to run 5 to 7 active projects from turnover through closeout.
If you came up through framing and drywall and grew into managing your own jobs, read the rest of this.
We self-perform metal framing, insulation, drywall, finish, paint and acoustical ceilings for general contractors across North Texas and into surrounding regions. Our work runs from courthouse renovations and church finish-outs to retail, office and medical build-outs, with project values from $40,000 to $650,000. We are HUB, WBE and WOSB certified.
We are owner-operated. Our reputation with our GCs is built on being organized, proactive and easy to communicate with, and everything we do internally exists to protect that.
To be clear about the scope: we are a subcontractor, not a general contractor. You are not buying out other trades, negotiating AIA subcontracts, pulling permits or sequencing an entire building. You are running our scopes against the GC's schedule, protecting our margin, keeping our crews productive, and being the person the GC trusts to give them a straight answer.
What makes this seat demanding is the count and the independence. Five to seven active jobs, some of them three or four hours out, no project engineer underneath you, and your own procurement and documentation. Ownership will support you, price the big decisions with you, and stay out of your way.
- The plans. You read the full set before mobilization and raise RFIs before they become field problems
- The schedule. A 1-week and 3-week look ahead on every project, built against the GC's schedule, that you commit to and hit
- The crews. GO crews and sub crews, including their production, quality, site conduct, safety compliance and daily reporting
- The material. Lists built off the plans, ordered to the schedule, verified on delivery, returned for credit at demobilization
- The GC relationship. You are the primary contact, you respond fast, and you send a customer summary every Friday
- The money. You know your gross profit against what we sold, every week. You catch every change, price it, and get it authorized before the work happens
- The record. Our project management system reflects reality daily, not weekly
- The closeout. Punch pushed immediately rather than batched, customer sign-off, materials reconciled, billing package clean
- 4+ years managing commercial interior projects, or 3+ years as a lead or foreman in framing, drywall and ceilings with PM-level responsibility
- Direct experience with metal framing, insulation, drywall, finish and acoustical ceilings
- You read commercial plan sets and specifications independently, including wall type assemblies, RCPs, finish schedules and details
- You have identified, priced and submitted change orders yourself, and can explain how you priced the labor
- You have directed field crews and held them to a standard
- You have run more than one active project at a time
- You document as a habit, without being asked
- Comfortable with 4 to 5 overnight trips per month for out-of-region projects
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, clean driving record
- OSHA 10 minimum
Experience substitutes for a degree here. We care what you have run, not where you studied.
- Subcontractor-side experience rather than general contractor side
- Takeoff and estimating ability
- Bilingual English and Spanish. Most of our field leadership speaks Spanish, and it makes you better at the job
- Experience at a smaller contractor where you handled your own procurement and scheduling
- Paint, doors and hardware, flooring and FRP in addition to framing, drywall and ACT
- OSHA 30
We run JobTread as our project management platform, plus Google Workspace, Fieldwire and PlanSwift. You do not need our specific stack, but you do need to be genuinely comfortable working in a project management system daily. It is the backbone of how we operate.
You will direct our site supervisor, our material runner and all field crews, including sub crews. Directing people who do not report to you on paper is part of the job. We expect you to set the standard early rather than after it becomes a problem, and to do it in a way that keeps good crews wanting to work with us. Our crews are long-term partners.
At 30 days: every one of your projects is current in our system, you have met every crew lead, and you are the primary contact with your GCs.
At 90 days: you are running your projects independently and catching change orders we would have missed.
At a year: GCs are calling you by name and asking for GO on their next project. Your jobs close at or above the margin we sold them at, and the punch lists are short.
- Base salary $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience
- Written salary review at 90 days with a step increase on meeting performance benchmarks
- Quarterly performance bonus tied to project execution and margin
- Labor savings share on negotiated sub crew contracts
- Company credit card covering fuel during work hours and project materials
- Travel and lodging covered for out-of-region projects
- Company iPad and equipment provided
- Flexible paid time off with planned coverage
- Branded work apparel provided
Field and office mix, roughly 60% field and 40% administrative. Standard hours are 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday, with phone availability on Saturdays when we have crews or customers active. This is a real construction environment: job sites, dust, ladders, early mornings and changing conditions.
