Job summary

Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors is seeking a Project Manager for the Innovation & Technology Team in the Metro Detroit area. You will plan, coordinate, and facilitate projects across various sizes and stages, creating schedules, tracking risks, and reporting to management.

You will leverage AI tools for meeting prep, maintain documentation, and drive process improvements. The role requires a Bachelor’s in IT/PM, 3 years of PM experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a valid

  • 3 years of project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, PM or related field required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • PM certification (PMP) preferred.

Overview

The Project Manager on the Innovation & Technology Team is responsible for the execution and improvement of Sun's agile and lean project management process. The Project Manager plans, coordinates, and facilitates activities for the successful execution of projects in a range of sizes and in various stages of the technology development process. They create and maintain project schedules and foster communication between technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, the Project Manager tracks all details of assigned projects, executes mitigation plans when risk arises, and reports the status to management.

Job Duties
  • Creates, maintains, and delivers project documentation in accordance with project management guidelines, including regular status updates to leadership. (Essential)
  • Creates project budgets, plans, and timelines. (Essential)
  • Develops appropriate communications for team members, management, sponsors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. (Essential)
  • Ensures assigned projects are implemented within scope, according to the project budget, and within the project timeline. (Essential)
  • Coordinates project tasks and facilitates collaboration and communication between stakeholders. (Essential)
  • Utilize AI productivity tools to accelerate meeting preparation and documentation generation, including strong prompt-writing skills to generate accurate, high-quality outputs. (Essential)
  • Coordinates leadership review sessions to lead decision process.
  • Prepares and maintains meeting minutes for all project meetings; tracks and follows-up on all open items.
  • Facilitates all major deliverable approvals during the project lifecycle.
  • Submits process improvement recommendations and partners with stakeholders to manage business change.
  • Conducts project retrospective meetings to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Other duties and special projects assigned.
  • Facilitates sponsor governance sessions to review project change requests.
  • Tracks project risks and issues; facilitates impact analysis efforts and coordinates mitigation activities.
  • Facilitates requirements reviews and prioritization sessions to finalize project scope.
  • Collaborates with business and information technology teams to ensure sufficient documentation is gathered for the development team to successfully code and deploy solutions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Project Management or related field (Required)
  • 3 years in of project management experience (Required)
  • Extensive knowledge of project management tools and procedures
  • Knowledge of technology methodologies, processes, technical relationships, data security, and compliance standards (i.e. Sarbanes-Oxley)
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and reporting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Advanced computer proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures:(Certified Project Management Professional (PMP))
