Job summary

Redpath Mining is seeking a Project Manager in Utah to lead mining projects from planning through execution, ensuring health, safety, and quality systems compliance. You will manage baselines, budgets, and schedules, report performance, liaise with clients and contractors, and mentor project teams.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of PM/controls experience in underground construction and a degree in engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction-related field.

• 10–15 years of project management/controls experience in mining, shaft sinking, lateral development, or similar underground construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit leadership and provide direction to Direct Reports with clear communication.
• Ensure compliance with Redpath’s safety programs and Code of Conduct.
• Develop, implement and maintain project baselines and execution plans.
• Manage project performance tracking and cost control; liaise with Client and other contractors.
• Establish KPIs with Operations Management and communicate findings.
• Review expenditures for materials and approve promotions and new hires for National employees.

Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for achieving project objectives and targets to ensure the successful completion of the project. This includes conducting project planning, managing, and resourcing the project, ensuring the health, safety, training, environmental and quality systems are successfully complied with, contract administration, the administration of cost control systems, managing the commercial interests of the project, tracking project deliverables, and providing overall leadership and direction to the project team.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit sound leadership practices, solid guidance and to provide direction and support to Direct Reports with clear and concise communications via daily meetings, reviews, documented planning.
• Ensures strict adherence to the Redpath’s Philosophy, Guidelines for Success, Code of Conduct and Cardinal Rules.
• Establishes full compliance with the Redpath 17 element safety program and monthly SAP (Safety Accountability Program).
• Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of project baselines and project execution plans, inclusive of managing the setup of project administrative aspects.
• Manage project performance tracking through daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Recommend action to be taken should there be deviations from the optimal performance.
• Review and determine project schedules, manpower budget, cost budget, cost control with Managers.
• Effectively liaise with Client representatives as well as other contracting companies’ personnel.
• Establishes key performance indicators with Operations Management.
• Must demonstrate good conceptual skills in understanding relationships between projects, the overall organization and its environment, and how change in one part of the project affects the whole.

• Promote and support the Redpath/S32 management team.
• Review and approve Investigation Reports.
• Review and approve disciplinary actions for employees.
• Review and Approve expenditures for purchases of materials.
• Review and approve Department Rotational leave schedule.
• Review performance appraisal recommendation and approve promotions.
• Approve promotion and new hire salaries for National Employees.
• Review and approve invoicing to client.
• Ability to work independently on complex tasks and non-routine matters.
• Responsible for ensuring and keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk

• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in an efficient manner.
• Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
• Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.

Work Experience

• The incumbent will have a minimum 10-15 years of project management/controls experience in mining, shaft sinking, lateral development, or similar underground construction projects with a sound knowledge of contract principles and data manipulation into management information.
