Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Project Manager to lead fiber installation and splicing projects for a nationwide utility construction and data center infrastructure client. The role requires onsite presence during critical phases and travel throughout the market, with a hybrid schedule based on project activity.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in fiber construction, splicing, and OSP telecom, plus PM or crew leadership experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of fiber cable installation/construction experience.
• Experience supporting fiber optic splicing projects (hands-on splicing strongly preferred).
• Project management or construction supervisor/crew leadership experience.
• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned market and maintain flexible on-site presence.
• Experience coordinating crews, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of Outside Plant telecom construction and underground fiber work.
• Ability to read construction drawings, fiber layouts, and infrastructure prints.
• Experience using project management software such as MS Project or Smartsheets.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple fiber installation and splicing projects across an assigned geographic region.
• Serve as primary point of contact for project execution and field operations.
• Provide weekly/bi-weekly updates detailing status, milestones, and risks.
• Review RFPs and validate quantities before field distribution.
• Lead internal status meetings with Operations Managers, PMs, and field leadership.
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer stakeholders through lifecycles.
• Develop fiber network designs and Engineering Design Packages (EDP’s).
• Manage service orders, contracts, change orders, and project docs.
• Track schedules, budgets, materials, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure testing results, GIS updates, and closeout docs meet customer requirements.
• Submit Ready for Service notifications and maintain tracking systems.
• Coordinate emergency response communications and escalation efforts.
• Lead preconstruction meetings and identify project risks.

Insight Global is seeking a Project Manager to support a leading utility construction and fiber infrastructure client experiencing rapid growth in fiber projects tied to hyperscale data center development. This role will oversee the full lifecycle of fiber installation and splicing projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, permitting, customer communication, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate will have experience in OSP telecom construction, underground fiber, and fiber splicing operations, along with strong leadership skills to manage crews, subcontractors, stakeholders, and project timelines. • This is a hybrid role with travel requirements driven by project activity rather than a fixed onsite schedule
• Project Managers are expected to be onsite as needed to support customer meetings, critical project milestones, field operations, construction activities, and issue resolution
• Onsite presence will vary depending on project phase and customer requirements
• Some weeks may require 1-2 onsite days, while critical construction phases may require 4+ onsite days
• Candidates should be comfortable traveling throughout their assigned market and supporting project sites as business needs dictate

Must Haves:

• 3+ years of experience in fiber cable installation/construction
• Experience supporting fiber optic splicing projects (hands-on splicing experience strongly preferred)
