Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fiber cable installation/construction.
• Experience supporting fiber optic splicing projects (hands-on splicing preferred).
• Project Management or Construction Supervisor/Crew Leadership experience.
• Ability to travel and maintain flexible on-site presence based on milestones.

Responsibilities

• Review cabling/ splicing scopes and validate quantities before field distribution.
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer stakeholders throughout lifecycles.
• Develop fiber network designs and Engineering Design Packages (EDP’s).
• Track schedules, budgets, materials, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure testing, redlines, GIS updates, and closeout documentation meet customer requirements.

Overview:

Insight Global is seeking a Project Manager to support a leading utility construction and fiber infrastructure client experiencing rapid growth in fiber projects tied to hyperscale data center development. This role will oversee the full lifecycle of fiber installation and splicing projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, permitting, customer communication, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate will have experience in OSP telecom construction, underground fiber, and fiber splicing operations, along with strong leadership skills to manage crews, subcontractors, stakeholders, and project timelines. • This is a hybrid role with travel requirements driven by project activity rather than a fixed onsite schedule
• Project Managers are expected to be onsite as needed to support customer meetings, critical project milestones, field operations, construction activities, and issue resolution
• Onsite presence will vary depending on project phase and customer requirements
• Some weeks may require 1-2 onsite days, while critical construction phases may require 4+ onsite days
• Candidates should be comfortable traveling throughout their assigned market and supporting project sites as business needs dictate

Must Haves:

• 3+ years of experience in fiber cable installation/construction
• Experience supporting fiber optic splicing projects (hands-on splicing experience strongly preferred)
• Project Management or Construction Supervisor/Crew Leadership experience
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned market and maintain a flexible on-site presence based on project milestones and customer needs
• Experience managing construction crews, project execution, and field operations
• Strong knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) telecom construction
• Experience with underground fiber construction and utility infrastructure projects
• Experience using Microsoft Project, Smartsheets or similar project management software
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber layouts, and infrastructure prints
• Experience coordinating multiple projects, schedules, crews, budgets, and deliverables simultaneously
• Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to identify project risks and proactively resolve issues before impacting timelines or budgets

Day to Day:

• Manage multiple fiber installation and splicing projects throughout an assigned geographic region
• Serve as the primary point of contact for project execution and field operations
• Send weekly/bi-weekly customer updates detailing project status, milestones, and risks
• Review cabling and splicing RFP’s and validate quantities before distribution to field teams
• Facilitate internal project status meetings with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and field leadership
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
• Review permit drawings and collaborate with engineering teams on construction plan revisions
• Develop fiber network designs and Engineering Design Packages (EDP’s)
• Manage service orders, contracts, change orders, and project documentation
• Track schedules, budgets, materials, milestones, and deliverables
• Ensure testing results, redlines, GIS updates, and closeout documentation meet customer requirements
• Submit Ready for Service (RFS) notifications and maintain project tracking systems
• Coordinate emergency response communications and escalation efforts
• Lead preconstruction meetings and proactively identify project risks
• Support construction teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
