Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. seeks a Project Manager for the US-CA-San Diego project. You will lead the project team, manage scope, schedule and budget, and coordinate with client and senior management to meet objectives.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in Engineering/Construction Management or Business Administration, 10 years of heavy civil construction experience, and proven ability to travel and relocate to site locations domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration; equivalent construction experience considered.
  • Willing to travel and relocate; project sites domestically and internationally.
  • 10 years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Safety oriented; OSHA 10/30 certifications preferred.
  • Strong work ethic; team-builder attitude.
  • Ability to access all points of a construction site in varied climates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the project team; provide communication, coordination and follow-up to meet goals.
  • Maintain ongoing training and mentoring of the project team.
  • Directly report to senior management.
  • Provide project information and reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Ensure scope, schedule and budget are defined and understood by all participants.
  • Determine and maintain overall project schedules and budgets.
  • Track progress and take actions to keep the project on track.
  • Secure approvals for changes in scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintain client communication and adjust deliverables to meet client and Barnard needs.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.
  • 10yrs of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background/experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Safety oriented, 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
  • Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to function as a team-builder/player.
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing and directing the project team by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals and objectives.
  • Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project team.
  • Directly responsible to senior management.
  • Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinates training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including client.
  • Determines, controls, and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track.
  • Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet the client and Barnard's needs.
