Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced project leader for heavy civil projects across North America.

You will direct the project team, manage scope, schedule and budgets, and report to senior management to ensure safe, on‑time delivery of complex work. Requires an undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or business administration, plus 10 years in heavy civil construction and willingness to travel or relocate domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration (or equivalent construction experience).
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
  • 10 years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • OSHA 10/30 certificates preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Ability to access construction sites in varied climates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the project team with communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet goals.
  • Maintain ongoing training and mentoring of project team.
  • Directly report to senior management.
  • Provide ongoing project information and reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinate training and compliance to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Ensure scope, schedule, and budget are defined and understood by senior management and all participants, including client.
  • Determine, control, and maintain overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Track schedule and budget progress with milestones and take action to stay on track.
  • Identify and secure approvals for changes in scope, budget, or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing client communication and adjust as necessary to meet needs within contractual obligations.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.
  • 10yrs of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background/experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Safety oriented, 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
  • Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to function as a team-builder/player.
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.

  • Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet the client andBarnard's needs.
