Job summary

BARNARD Construction Company, Inc. seeks a senior project manager for heavy civil construction projects.

You will lead the project team and manage scope, schedule, and budget to meet client and company goals. Ideal candidates hold an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration, plus 10+ years of experience and a willingness to travel/domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
• Heavy Civil Construction background/experience.

• Ability to function as a team-builder/player.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct the project team with communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals.
• Maintain ongoing training and mentoring of the project team.
• Direct reports to senior management; provide project information and reviews.
• Coordinate training and compliance for project procedures.
• Ensure scope, schedule, and budget are defined and understood by management and client.
• Determine, control and maintain project and discipline schedules and budgets.
• Track progress and take action to keep the project on track.
• Obtain approvals for changes in scope, budget, or schedule.
• Maintain communication with client and adjust deliverables to meet client and Barnard’s needs.

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
• Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically andinternationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.
• 10yrs of heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
• Heavy Civil Construction background/experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Safety oriented, 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.

• The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing and directing the project team by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals and objectives.
• Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project team.
• Directly responsible to senior management.
• Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
• Coordinates training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
• Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including client.
• Determines, controls, and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
• Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track.
• Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
• Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet the client andBarnard's needs.
