Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced leader for heavy civil projects. The role requires managing project teams, ensuring safety, and delivering on schedule and budget across domestic and international sites.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in heavy civil construction, a degree in engineering, construction management, or business, and the ability to relocate or travel as needed. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration. Equivalents considered.
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate domestically and internationally; travel is required.
  • 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple project engineers.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background/experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Safety oriented; OSHA 10- and 30-hour certificates preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and team-player mentality.
  • Ability to access all points of a construction site across varied climates and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the project team with clear communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet goals.
  • Mentor and train the project team.
  • Report to senior management with ongoing project information and reviews.
  • Coordinate training and compliance to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Define and maintain scope, schedule, and budget; ensure client understanding.
  • Control and manage overall project schedules and budgets.
  • Track progress and take action to keep milestones on track.
  • Secure approvals for changes in scope, budget, or schedule.
  • Maintain client communication and adjust deliverables per client and Barnard's needs.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing and directing the project team by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet the project goals and objectives.
  • Maintains ongoing training and mentoring of project team.
  • Directly responsible to senior management.
  • Provides ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinates training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including client.
  • Determines, controls, and maintains overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Tracks schedule and budget progress with project milestones and takes all action necessary to keep project on track.
  • Identifies and secures necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client's needs within contractual obligations, or adjusting project deliverables to meet the client andBarnard's needs.
