Job summary

Barnhart is seeking a Project Manager to lead customer projects across diverse sites, including nuclear, from award to closeout, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and client satisfaction. You will manage schedules, highlight critical path, coordinate with field leaders, and communicate status, risk and costs; travel as needed to job sites and gain plant access.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; PMP preferred; strong knowledge of engineering plans and industrial construction markets;

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction for project teams to meet safety, schedule, budget and client goals.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, identify critical paths, and address risks early.
  • Coordinate with Project Sales and field leadership to ensure scope, changes and costs are tracked.
  • Interface with customers, engineers, vendors and other stakeholders throughout design and planning phases.
  • Communicate project status clearly and regularly, including schedule, cost, quality and risk aspects.
  • Coordinate crews and equipment, and manage required travel to sites as needed.

About the Job

As a Project Manager, you'll take the lead on customer projects of a wide variety, including nuclear power sites, from award through closeout, ensuring safety, schedule, profit, and customer satisfaction are always top priorities. You'll drive the project forward, keeping it on track, on budget, and within scope. Working closely with your project team, you'll manage the schedule, highlight critical path items, and proactively tackle challenges before they become issues. You'll also make sure the safety plan and key project priorities are clearly communicated to the Superintendent and field leadership.

Description
  • Provide oversight, evaluation and improvement of the efficiency of the project management team. The team is to adhere to the management principles as established by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Participate in customer site visits, proposal development and contract development/reviews to ensure complete understanding of scope, contractual obligations and risk of jobs.
  • Work with Project Sales Representative before project development; take the project from sales through development into execution; maintain communication with Project Sales Representative over the course of the project, and document changes that affect the job scope, schedule, or budget agreement.
  • Interact with customers, engineers, vendors, suppliers, and others throughout the design and planning phase of the project.
  • Work closely with project team to develop and maintain an overall project schedule. Show critical path items and anticipate problematic issues. Responsible to foresee typical issues that historically challenge schedules, construction, and impact project costs. Identify these issues and work with project team to develop solutions to overcome potential problem areas.
  • Responsible to regularly and accurately communicate the project status, including schedule, financial status, risk assessment, quality, safety and other key areas.
  • Responsible for coordinating work crews and scheduling required equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed and be able to work with and manage field leadership.
  • Role requires the ability to obtain plant access at nuclear and government sites.
Education

Bachelor's degree or sufficient experience.

Preferred Experience and Skills
  • A working knowledge and understanding of engineering plans and specifications.
  • Mechanically inclined and an understanding of industrial construction markets including power generation (including nuclear power), Department of Energy sites, manufacturing (such as pharmaceuticals), etc.
  • Basic understanding of machinery, heavy construction, and principles of industrial project flow.
  • Basic math and geometry are necessary.
  • Must demonstrate planning and leadership skills.
Administrative Skills

An understanding of construction contracts, Windows based software applications, and good time management skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

PMP is preferred.
