Job summary

Big Top, a Perry, Florida-based manufacturer of high-performance fabric structures, is seeking a Project Manager to oversee custom shelter projects from start to finish.

You will coordinate with sales, CAD, engineering, shipping and installation, ensure on-time delivery, and manage contract changes with customers and vendors.

A Bachelor’s degree in Construction/PM or related field and 3 years’ experience are preferred; 25% travel to client sites is required; self-starter mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3 years’ project management experience may substitute for education.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office; thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.
• Travel up to 25% for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, organize, and oversee activities for completing shelter projects.
• Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines.
• Communicate regularly with sales, CAD, engineering, shipping, installation, vendors and customers on progress and estimates.
• Assist in contract negotiations, revisions, and adherence; ensure all parties meet requirements.
• Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve installation or design issues.
• Identify obstacles, mitigate delays, and manage project risk with proactive actions.
• Evaluate project efficiency after completion and use data for future decisions.
• Travel to sites up to 25% as required.

Job Summary: The Project Manager will oversee and coordinate the completion of various custom shelter projects, ensuring timely execution and customer satisfaction. This role provides the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting multi-faceted projects on the cutting edge of the future of structural design. This individual must be a self-starter. This role reports to the Director of Project Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

• Plans, coordinates, organizes, and oversees activities regarding the completion of various shelter projects.
• Schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and budget the time necessary to meet each deadline.
• Regularly communicates with sales, internal stakeholders (e.g., CAD, Engineering, Shipping, Installation), subcontractors, vendors and customers concerning project progress and estimated completion date.
• Alongside Sales, participates in contract negotiations, revisions, and additions; confirms contract adherence by all parties,
• Collaborates with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to discuss and resolve problems, including installation or design issues.
• Identifies potential obstacles to project completion timeline; takes appropriate actions to mitigate delays.
• Anticipates problems that may arise throughout the project and takes appropriate action to mitigate risk. When issues arise during a project, works to find viable solutions to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
• Upon completion of a project, evaluates the project’s efficiency and effectiveness; uses data to guide future decision-making.
• 25% travel required to complete site visits with customers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Strong individual and team-focused time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
• Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
• Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented and organized.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or related field preferred; 3 years’ experience planning, executing, monitoring and closing projects may substitute for education.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers, management, customers, and vendors.
• Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time.
