Job summary

Cumming Group, a leading project and cost management consultancy, is hiring a Project Manager in Palmdale, CA to oversee capital improvement public works projects as an Owner's Representative, ensuring budgets, schedules, and quality meet client goals.

You will coordinate with project, program, and client leadership, manage permits, engage regulators, and drive procurement and contract negotiations, delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in Project Management, engineering, or construction management.
  • At least three years independently managing public works projects.
  • Prior experience with public sector building projects preferred.
  • CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost.
  • Communicate with and manage project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate documents and communicate the client’s goals to the project team.
  • Develop and communicate action plans from the Project Management Plan.
  • Re-evaluate contract scope and adjust as necessary.
  • Coordinate with IOR, Fire Marshall, and regulatory agencies to facilitate inspections.
  • Drive the permitting process and ensure permits move through efficiently.
  • Ensure design management aligns with budget, scope, and client standards.
  • Prepare cost and revenue projections.
  • Organize and maintain project documents and records.
  • Contracts and claim negotiations.
  • Budget development and management.
  • Ability to run larger, more complex projects.
  • Delegate tasks to project management team.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

We are currently hiring a Project Manager located in Palmdale, CA. This position will be supporting capital improvement projects for a public works client and acts as an Owner's Representative to successfully manage budget, schedule, and quality. Our public works team are prime consultants to various municipality, county, state, and public education institutions nationally. You will be teaming with project, program, and client leadership to provide premier public facilities that make a positive impact in the communities we support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the project schedule, scope, and cost.
  • Communicate with and manage project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate documents and communicate the client’s specific goals and expectations to all project team members.
  • Develop and communicate action plans that will lead the project team throughout the project, beginning with the initial Project Management Plan.
  • Re-evaluate the contract scope of work as the project progresses against the goals, expectations, and the needs of the client, and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Coordinate with Inspector of Record (IOR), Fire Marshall, and other regulatory agencies to facilitate successful inspections and completion of projects.
  • Drive the permitting process by designing team documents to be submitted to various local, state, and federal agencies and ensure the applicable permits are moving through the process efficiently.
  • Ensure the project design management continues to follow the client project documents such as budget, scope, schedule, and client's design standards.
  • Prepare cost and revenue projections.
  • Organize and maintain framework for project team processes and record keeping of electronic and physical documents.
  • Contracts and claim negotiations.
  • Budget development and management.
  • Ability to run larger, more complex projects.
  • Effectively delegate project tasks to project management team.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor scope throughout the project and recommend adjustments when necessary.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate cost and revenue projections.
  • Knowledge of permitting process and ability to drive the process to meet project timelines.
  • Knowledge of the complete project lifecycle, including closeout work.
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Deliver quality work product by role modeling organizational core values.
  • Hold self accountable to individual and team goals.
  • Consistently communicates and collaborates with team members and clients.
  • Demonstrate ability to be dependable, diligent, and thorough.
  • Exercise creativity and resourcefulness in managing the project effectively in a compressed timeframe.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Project Management, engineering, or construction management.
  • Including at least three (3) years independently managing public works projects.
  • Prior experience with public sector building projects preferred.
Preferred Certification:
  • CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED #LI-SV1

The salary range for this full-time role is $120,200.00-$160,266.69 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
