Job summary

Stratus is seeking a Project Manager to oversee engineering projects from conception to completion. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure client satisfaction while maintaining compliance with industry standards.

The role requires 5-7+ years in design engineering or PM, strong leadership, and proficiency with Deltek, MS Project, and Primavera P6. Hybrid work options are available with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5-7+ years of experience in design engineering, PM, or engineering consulting.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects to schedule, budget, and quality goals.
• Proficiency with project management software (Deltek, MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Ability to identify risks, assess impacts, and implement mitigations.
• Strong leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
• Experience mentoring technical staff and fostering collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from concept through construction completion, meeting goals and budgets.
• Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and resource plans aligned with objectives.
• Manage and lead a team of 4-5 engineers.
• Serve as primary client contact, providing updates and addressing concerns.
• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors for integrated designs.
• Oversee creation of drawings, calculations, and technical documents per standards.
• Conduct regular project meetings to review progress and risks.
• Assist in managing project financials, expenses, and invoicing for profitability.
• Allocate resources to deliver projects on time with quality.
• Support business development with proposals and client presentations.
• Ensure compliance with codes, safety, and regulatory requirements; manage permits.
• Mentor junior engineers and PMs on PM best practices and technical solutions.
• Lead project closeout activities including punch lists and post-occupancy reviews.
• Participate in proposals and client meetings to secure new opportunities.

The Role

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of engineering projects by managing scope, schedule, and budget. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that projects meet client expectations, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Project Manager leads the project from conception to completion, ensuring technical excellence and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from initial concept development through construction completion, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans, ensuring that all project activities are aligned with client and business objectives.
• Manage and lead a team of 4-5 engineers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, managing expectations, and addressing concerns.
• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure the seamless integration of civil or mechanical systems into the overall project design.
• Oversee the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
• Conduct regular project meetings to review progress, identify risks, and develop strategies to ensure timely project delivery and compliance with technical requirements.
• Assist in managing project financials, tracking expenses, approving invoices, and ensuring that the project remains profitable.
• Manage project resources to deliver projects on schedule, efficiently, and with quality.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and business development teams to pursue new project opportunities and contribute to proposal writing and client presentations.
• Ensure that all project activities comply with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, managing the permitting process as needed.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and project managers, providing guidance on project management best practices and technical solutions.
• Ensure proper project closeout activities, including punch list resolution, final inspections, and post-occupancy evaluations.
• Participate in business development efforts, assisting with proposals, client meetings, and presentations to secure new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of experience in design engineering, project management, or engineering consulting.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedule, budget, and quality objectives.

• Experience identifying project risks, assessing potential impacts, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through complex projects and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Experience mentoring technical staff and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of project delivery, from planning and design through construction and closeout.
