Job description

AMI Consulting Engineers, PA is seeking a dedicated full-time Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing proposals, establishing project timelines, coordinating with stakeholders and the design team, and overseeing all project-related activities including a thorough understanding of the plans and specifications. Projects typically include waterfront structures such as dock walls, river structures, revetments, and marinas. Candidates with project management experience and/or client interfacing in the marine and coastal environments are preferred.

The candidate should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, have exceptional follow‑through while taking ownership in each project assigned, and be passionate about their work, embracing variety and displaying a strong aptitude for problem solving.

Responsibilities
  • Assist project engineers through detailed calculations and preparation of construction documents.
  • Independently perform detailed calculations of basic to moderate complexity under the supervision of a licensed PE.
  • Perform site visits, collect field data, perform research and investigations and prepare field reports.
  • Review contractor submittals during construction for conformance to construction document requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with other project team members to ensure successful completion of projects that are both on schedule and on budget.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental laws, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Management in the development of schedules, budgets, and proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with AMI staff, clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Develop effective solutions for challenges arising during design and construction phases.
  • Craft well‑structured technical reports, client correspondence, emails, etc.
  • Manage project budgets and provide support with invoices, including the development of change orders.
  • Perform site visits and special inspections.
  • Attend client meetings in person.
  • Assist in the inspection and assessment of the conditions of coastal infrastructure.
  • Travel and fieldwork may be required to complete projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of direct project management experience.
  • Understanding of regulatory permitting and construction.
  • Understanding of engineering design considerations.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to ensure rigid deadlines are met.
  • Ability to travel and work remotely for short periods of time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Qualifications Desired
  • Environmental permitting experience in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
