Responsibilities

Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Location: Milan, MO, USA

Salary: $135,000 – $150,000 per year

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage heavy civil construction projects from initiation through completion. The Project Manager will work under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager and assist with the successful execution of projects while ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in horizontal/heavy civil construction, including site development, mass excavation, grading, trenching, underground utilities, heavy concrete, and related infrastructure work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and supervise project activities involving subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments to maintain schedule and budget objectives.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, project teams, and management to define project goals, scope, and deliverables.
  • Manage project resources, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and communicate project status, issues, and milestones to stakeholders.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Support quality control activities and ensure work meets contractual and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and present project reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Assist with estimating, technical writing, and bidding activities, with work subject to management review.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company and project safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience, including experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, and/or Project Manager.
  • Experience in horizontal/heavy civil construction, including site development, mass excavation, grading, trenching, underground utilities, and heavy concrete.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance for access to secured facilities, including military installations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software such as Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, CMiC, Sage/Timberline, Trimble Viewpoint/Vista, Microsoft Project, or similar systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service and client management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with public infrastructure and heavy concrete construction, including bridges, foundations, dams, reservoirs, highways, airports, or similar projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP certification or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience with government, military, DOT, or public-sector construction projects.
