Job summary

Thieneman Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee overall profit at completion, delegate tasks, manage client relations, and lead project management across multiple jobs.

The role emphasizes forecasting revenue, controlling costs, and ensuring timely invoicing and documentation. Responsibilities include leading teams, developing work plans, maintaining project standards, and mentoring Innovators while driving continuous improvement in processes and communication

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of relevant construction management preferred.
  • Post-college field experience in estimating, purchasing, submittal review, CAD, and cost control.
  • Experience in concrete, excavation, underground and exposed piping.
  • Prefer experience in heavy civil or mechanical type projects.
  • Mechanically minded problem solver with excellent math aptitude.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Professional with effective communication skills to keep people on task.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams and manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects.

The Project Manager is responsible for overall profit at completion, delegation of tasks, client relations and general project management on any given job or jobs.

Project/Practice Management
  • Understand basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to completion projections to make decisions accordingly.
  • Understand our pricing model and billing procedures.
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Follow up with clients, when necessary, for unpaid invoices
  • Accurately forecast and analyze project profitability, margins, and utilization
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes.
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
  • Effectively apply our methodology and enforce project standards.
  • Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Minimize our exposure and risk on a project.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
  • Manage project budget.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables for project.
  • Accurately forecast and analyze revenue and bill rates.
  • Assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
Business Development
  • Lead proposal efforts including completing project scoping and LOE assessments.
  • Understand business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project
  • Effectively convey our message in both written and business development discussions
Communication
  • Keep project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team.
  • Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
  • Resolve and/or escape issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Possess general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application of client engagements.
Leadership
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Manage the development of team by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each Innovator’s career interest.
  • Inspire coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
  • Manage the process of innovative change effectively.
  • Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices.
Teamwork
  • Plan and facilitate regular team activities outside of the office.

Client Management
  • Build a knowledge base of each client’s business, organization, and objectives.
  • Manage the day-to-day client interaction.
  • Set and manage the client expectations.
  • Develop lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Innovator Development
  • Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor those with less experience through formal channels.
  • Help team execute career development plans.
  • Seek and participate in develop opportunities above and beyond required by TCI.
  • Train other innovators and clients through both formal and informal training programs
  • Encourage more junior Innovators to take responsibility for their development within the company.
  • Challenge fellow Innovators to progress toward their professional development goals.
Internal Operations
  • Lead internal teams/task forces.
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
  • Approve team members’ time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.
  • Review the status reports of team members to address issues as appropriate.
  • Comply to help enforce standard policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications And Skills
