Job summary

BIOFerm™ is seeking a Project Manager to lead on-site execution of wastewater and renewable energy projects in Madison, WI.

You will drive project objectives, budgets, schedules, and risk management, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and clients to deliver safe, on-time results within scope and budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum associate degree in engineering or a trade or higher in a related field.
• Experience in project management within wastewater, oil & gas, utilities, ethanol, or renewable energy sectors is required.
• On-site construction experience in related industries is required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage project objectives, budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
• Develop and maintain project work plans and adjust to changing requirements.
• Oversee development and review of construction/engineering documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Supervise project teams including engineers, construction managers, contractors, and site superintendents.
• Coordinate with clients, regulators, subcontractors and internal departments for successful execution.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, ensure safety, on-time and within budget.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet technical, regulatory, and performance goals.
• Provide regular project updates and reports to management.
• Oversee site operations including safety, scheduling, inventory, asset management, and contractor coordination.

Job description

BIOFerm™, a renewable energy company, is currently looking for a Project Manager. BIOFerm™ provides turnkey anaerobic digestion and gas upgrading facilities. Committed to sustainable and economical organic waste diversion, BIOFerm™’s digester technology harnesses biogas from fermenting organics—food waste, manure, biosolids, etc.—and converts it into valuable green energy, vehicle fuel, heat and organic products. Its gas upgrading systems enable biogas producers to profitably upgrade biogas to renewable natural gas (RNG).

BIOFerm is looking for a Project Manager, who will provide leadership for current projects from project kickoff through installation. Related experience managing the execution of projects is beneficial, along with a willingness to learn and grow with the company. The Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Madison, WI.

Essential Job Functions:

• Establish and manage project objectives, budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
• Develop and maintain project work plans, adjusting as needed to meet changing requirements.
• Oversee development and review of construction and engineering documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Supervise project teams including engineers, construction managers, contractors, and site superintendents.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure clear communication and successful project execution.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve technical, regulatory, and performance goals.
• Provide regular project updates and reports to management.
• Oversee site operations including safety, scheduling, inventory, asset management, and contractor coordination.
• Travel to project sites as required.
• Perform additional project-related tasks as needed to support successful delivery.

Competencies/Qualifications:

• Minimum Associate degree in Engineering or a trade
• Associate degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field required.
• PMP certification preferred.
• 3+ years of project management experience in wastewater, oil and gas, utility, ethanol, or renewable energy sectors.
• 3+ years of on-site construction experience within related industries.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and construction management principles.
• Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and bidding documents.
• Skilled in scheduling, estimating, and contract negotiation.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills.
• Proficient in MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Autodesk Build (or equivalent).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights as needed.
• Experience operating hand tools or heavy machinery is beneficial.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport (or equivalent documentation for international travel) required.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
