Job summary

BIOFerm™ is seeking an Estimating Engineer to develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and pricing models for renewable energy EPC projects. You will collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and business development to prepare comprehensive cost analyses and bid materials.

The role requires technical/financial acumen, experience with estimating software and Excel, and the ability to travel as needed. Wisconsin-based company offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering as a baseline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in cost estimating, pricing, or project engineering in EPC/construction/renewable energy.
  • Experience with anaerobic digestion, biogas, or process plant systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with high accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Valid authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specs, and scopes to identify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors for cost accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement to optimize design and costs.
  • Develop bid summaries, pricing docs, and cost breakdowns for proposals.
  • Maintain cost databases, historical pricing records, and estimation tools.
  • Conduct cost analyses and scenario modeling for design or scope changes.
  • Support project managers with budget reviews and change order pricing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
  • Provide input on pricing trends and market competitiveness.

BIOFerm™ is looking for an Estimating Engineer responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and pricing models to support the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of renewable energy projects. This position requires a strong combination of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and financial insight to ensure the delivery of competitive and profitable project proposals.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, project management, and business development teams to prepare comprehensive cost analyses, support bid preparation, and refine pricing strategies.

BIOFerm™ is a Wisconsin-based renewable energy company specializing in turnkey anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading facilities. Our mission is to provide sustainable and economical solutions for organic waste diversion, transforming food waste, manure, biosolids, and other organic materials into renewable natural gas (RNG), green energy, vehicle fuel, heat, and organic products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing models for EPC projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project scopes to identify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure cost accuracy and compliance with project requirements for estimating purpose.
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to optimize project design and cost efficiency.
  • Develop bid summaries, pricing documentation, and cost breakdowns for proposal submissions.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing records, and estimation tools.
  • Conduct cost analyses and scenario modeling to assess financial impacts of design or scope changes.
  • Support project managers during project execution with budget reviews and change order pricing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and cost benchmarking practices.
  • Provide strategic input to management regarding pricing trends and market competitiveness.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Competencies & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related field).
  • 3–7 years of professional experience in cost estimating, pricing, or project engineering within the EPC, construction, or renewable energy industries.
  • Experience with anaerobic digestion, biogas, or process plant systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
