Job summary

Appleton Finn in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead complex building programs from planning through closeout. You will direct performance, safety, costs, and schedules, while providing contract administration and technical guidance to the project team.

The role requires 5–10 years of progressive construction experience, a relevant degree, and a proven ability to manage risks, budgets, and stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry, including building materials, codes, and safety/quality practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture per regulations.
  • Strong planning, organizational and time-management skills with budget and schedule oversight.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software; openness to new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees project performance, providing regular status updates on safety, cost forecasts, and schedule.
  • Provides overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support throughout the construction project.
  • Ensures the project is delivered in accordance with the design, budget, available resources, quality requirements, and schedule.
  • Develops and implements the project safety plan while promoting and demonstrating strong health and safety practices.
  • Identifies, assesses, and manages project risks and opportunities.
  • Understands, communicates, and enforces contractual requirements and contract documentation.
  • Negotiates and administers subcontracts, major purchase orders, and progress payments, while monitoring performance and schedule.
  • Understands client priorities and develops value engineering proposals that provide improvements in functionality, cost, and schedule.
  • Maintains clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, ensuring expectations are appropriately managed.
  • Coordinates and manages overall project closeout activities.
  • Monitors design progress, including compliance, quality, coordination, constructability, and the timely delivery of design information.
  • Supports the project team in establishing a comprehensive design management and design quality plan and conducting periodic quality audits to ensure compliance.

  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management, and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technologies.
