Rockwell Sterling is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager focused on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Water Infrastructure construction in Kentucky. Qualifications

  • 3–8 years of project management experience focused on WWTP or WTP construction with a General Contractor.
  • Deep understanding of process mechanical piping, concrete structures, earthwork, pump stations, and equipment installation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CM, Civil Eng, Mechanical Eng, or equivalent.
  • Experience with construction software (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

  • Direct all construction phases for municipal and industrial wastewater facilities, pump stations, and piping infrastructure.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, pay applications, cost coding, and CPM scheduling.
  • Handle subcontractor agreements, change orders, RFIs, and submittals with municipal clients and design teams.
  • Review drawings to identify constructability issues and opportunities for value engineering.
  • Coordinate WWTP equipment vendors and trades for timely delivery and quality work.
  • Enforce safety protocols and compliance with environmental regulations and permits.

Job description

Rockwell Sterling is recruiting for an experienced Construction Project Manager with specialized expertise in Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Water Infrastructure construction.

In this role, you will lead heavy civil and process mechanical projects from preconstruction through commissioning. You will manage cross-functional teams of superintendents, subcontractors, process equipment vendors, and engineers to ensure high-quality, compliant infrastructure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Execution & Leadership: Direct all phases of construction for municipal and industrial wastewater facilities, pump stations, and piping infrastructure.
  • Financial & Schedule Management: Manage project budgets, forecasting, pay applications, cost coding, and critical path method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Contract & Scope Management: Handle subcontractor agreements, change orders, RFIs, and submittal reviews alongside municipal clients, owner representatives, and design engineers.
  • Technical Oversight: Review civil, structural, process mechanical, electrical, and SCADA/instrumentation drawings to identify constructability issues and value engineering opportunities.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: Procure and manage specialized WWTP equipment vendors (clarifiers, digesters, aeration systems, dewatering equipment) and trades.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Enforce jobsite safety protocols and ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations, local permits, and project specifications.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary liaison to municipal owners, district engineers, and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 3 to 8 years of project management experience directly focused on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or Water Treatment Plant (WTP) construction with a General Contractor.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of process mechanical piping, concrete structures, earthwork, pump stations, and process equipment installation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with construction software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
  • Delivery Methods: Familiarity with Hard Bid, Design-Build, or CMAR project delivery models.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
  • Experience with startup, testing, and commissioning sequences for treatment plants.
