Project Manager - Heavy Civil | Houston, TX

About the Company:

A leading Houston-based heavy civil and infrastructure contractor is confidentially seeking a Project Manager to lead complex utility projects in the Houston area. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work across underground utilities, stormwater systems, lift stations, and road improvements, this company offers the opportunity to lead meaningful public works projects that improve the region’s infrastructure and resilience.

Specializing in heavy civil, site development, and water/wastewater treatment facilities, this organization has decades of success and is growing its Houston operation. Known for its people-first culture and unified team approach mentality, it’s a place where loyal, agile, and mission-driven professionals thrive.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:

Lead Specialized Work – Own projects involving pump stations, lift stations, and large-diameter utility systems from start to finish.

Houston-Focused – Serve agencies like City of Houston and Harris County on high-visibility projects.

Diverse Project Types – From deep storm sewer and water transmission lines to paving and ADA improvements.

Trusted Team Culture – Join a company built on loyalty, responsiveness, and collaborative project delivery.

Strong Compensation – Competitive salary, bonus potential, vehicle allowance, and benefits.

You're a Great Fit If You…

  • Have direct experience delivering public infrastructure projects in Houston or Harris County.
  • Understand the technical demands of lift stations, pump stations, and large-diameter stormwater systems.
  • Want to make a meaningful impact by improving critical infrastructure in your own community.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where initiative is valued and career growth is encouraged.

Position Overview:

As Project Manager, you will lead key heavy civil infrastructure projects across the Houston metro area, with a focus on pump/lift stations, stormwater improvements, and underground utilities. You will manage schedules, budgets, client relationships, and field coordination to ensure successful project delivery with a sharp focus on quality, safety, and execution excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full project lifecycle including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, and public agencies (City of Houston, Harris County).
  • Coordinate with field superintendents, safety managers, and subcontractors to drive production and ensure compliance.
  • Lead project meetings, track milestones, manage change orders, and control project documentation.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction efforts when needed for upcoming work.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify issues, and ensure solutions are implemented swiftly.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in civil construction project management, ideally with municipal utility projects.
  • Experience managing lift stations, pump stations, large water transmission, or storm drainage systems.
  • Knowledge of City of Houston, Harris County, or local agency standards and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (Primavera P6 or equivalent).
