Job summary

Flexicrew Technical Services is seeking a skilled Project Manager–Industrial Refrigeration in Houston to lead project execution from award through commissioning within the Service Department. You will coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, and field activities to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget.

The role requires 5+ years in ammonia refrigeration, excellent communication, and a solid understanding of P&ID, NH3 systems, and PSM requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years in the ammonia refrigeration or related mechanical systems industry.
  • Experience leading projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams, block flow diagrams, specifications, and refrigeration drawings.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements for end-user facilities using NH3.
  • Familiarity with NH3 piping practices, equipment, and industry standards.

Job Location: Houston, TX

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a skilled Project Manager–Industrial Refrigeration to lead project execution from award through commissioning within the Service Department.

Essential Duties
  • Manage technical, commercial, contractual, fabrication, and field construction requirements from project initiation through closeout.
  • Lead multiple projects concurrently in accordance with internal processes, project execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Serve as the primary customer point of contact and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Prepare, review, and participate in proposal development.
  • Develop and manage project progress reports, forecasts, action plans, and performance tracking.
  • Coordinate engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, material requisition, expediting, delivery, shipping, cost control, and quality activities.
  • Validate project schedules, timelines, scope requirements, and change management processes.
  • Initiate and lead internal and external project meetings as needed.
  • Communicate specifications, inspection requirements, QC expectations, customer needs, and scope changes.
  • Participate in P&ID, HAZOP, design, technical, and project execution reviews.
  • Resolve schedule, design, commissioning, warranty, and execution-related issues for customized projects.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project risk management plans and communicate risks to project teams and management.
  • Mentor junior project engineers and project team members.
  • Travel to job sites as needed to verify scope and support commissioning or start-up activities.
  • Ensure project quality standards are met in compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental codes and standards.
Requirements/Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry.
  • Project management experience in industrial refrigeration or related mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping diagrams, block flow diagrams, specifications, refrigeration drawings, and project documentation.
  • Experience with PSM requirements for end-user processing facilities utilizing NH3 as a refrigerant.
  • Knowledge of NH3 piping practices, installation standards, and industry requirements.
  • Familiarity with high-side, low-side, booster discharge, discharge, economizing, equalizing, high-pressure liquid, pumped liquid, and condenser drain systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial refrigeration equipment manufacturers, including screw compressors, airside equipment, vessels, heat exchangers, ice makers, and related systems.
  • Knowledge of NH3 control and isolation valves and related installation practices.
  • Experience with NH3 detection systems preferred.
  • Experience with polystyrene insulation installation practices preferred.
  • Experience with MIRO or PHP piping support systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with IIAR standards.
  • Strong scope control, change management, cost control, scheduling, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and professionalism in client and project matters.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel to industrial job sites as needed.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, and navigate active construction or industrial environments.
  • Ability to review field installations, equipment, piping, and project scope in plant or construction settings.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all site safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
