Job summary

Kitchell seeks an experienced Project Manager to join the Bay Area Region in Hayward and build a long-term career with a leading construction services company.

The role provides PM/CM services for a ground-up municipal office and laboratory facility, with responsibilities spanning procurement, contracts, cost and schedule control, and safety compliance on-site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • 5–8 years DEC industry experience, with 3+ years as PM/CM.
  • Prior experience managing municipal building construction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PM/CM consultant services for the owner on a ground-up municipal project.
  • Ensure operations follow company PM procedures and policies.
  • Ensure delivery and adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Manage procurement phase and develop RFQs and RFPs.
  • Oversee contracts, drawings, estimates, and specs to meet project needs.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractors, engineers, architects and related teams.
  • Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities.
  • Identify and manage risk and advise regional executives.
  • Participate in internal teams focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safety policies are communicated and enforced.

Brief Description

Kitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Project Manager to join our Bay Area Region in Hayward and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented Construction Services companies in the United States.

Overview

Providing Project Management / Construction Management services for a ground-up office and laboratory facility. The capital project is part of the infrastructure of a regional public utility.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Providing PM/CM Consultant Services for the owner on a ground-up vertical Municipal project
  • Ensures operations are executed in accordance with company project management procedures and policies
  • ensures delivery and adherence to contractual requirements and that all aspects of owner contracts are accomplished
  • Manage the procurement phase and development of RFQs and RFPs
  • Oversight of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client
  • Identifies and manages risk on the project, and advises and confers with regional executive prior to implementing risk mitigation actions
  • Actively participates on internal teams that focus on continuous improvement of the company
  • Ensures workplace health and safety policies and procedures are clearly communicated and understood by direct reports and enforces rules fairly and uniformly
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline is preferred
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in the Design/Engineering/Construction (DEC) industry of which 3+ years as a Project/Construction Manager is required
  • Prior experience managing construction of municipal buildings is essential
Knowledge And Skills
  • Proficient user skills with the MS Suite of tools and Bluebeam are required
  • Working knowledge of standard industry tools such as P6 and Procore is strongly preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to foster and maintain interpersonal relationships is required
  • Provide leadership and financial management support to the project team is required
License and Certifications
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions is required
  • A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential, a Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification, and /or a LEED Professional Accreditation is preferred
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and/or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements

This position is project based at the site location in the City of Hayward, CA.

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $110,000 - $130,000. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
