POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager is an experienced landscape architecture professional who plays a key role in moving projects from design direction into coordinated, high-quality construction documentation. This role is ideal for someone who has built a strong technical foundation and is ready to take on greater ownership, mentor developing staff, coordinate across disciplines, and contribute more strategically to project delivery.At this level, the Project Manager is expected to work with increasing independence and take real ownership of construction document sets from start to finish. Strong understanding of project workflow and internal timelines is essential, as is keeping teams aligned, informed, and moving forward. This role requires strong technical judgment, thoughtful communication, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate what a project needs before it becomes urgent.This is a growth-focused opportunity for someone who wants to sharpen their leadership skills, deepen their technical expertise, and contribute to meaningful landscape architecture projects that support KW’s mission of bringing people outside.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Documentation and Technical Leadership

• Assemble full construction document sets with minimal direction from leadership.
• Use company software and digital tools with confidence and efficiency across drawing, documentation, project planning, and communication..
• Apply KW’s plant palette with confidence and sound design judgment.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate technical drawings, schedules, notes, and project documentation.
• Identify items requiring consultant coordination and take appropriate steps to resolve or advance those items.
• Maintain strong attention to detail while supporting project quality, constructability, and design intent.

Project Coordination and Workflow

• Understand project workflow, internal timelines, deliverables, and team processes.
• Complete assigned tasks within the timeframe provided by leadership.
• Help coordinate tasks where appropriate and support the team in maintaining project momentum.
• Assist leadership with weekly hot list meetings, schedules, and project priorities.
• Proactively provide project status updates to senior staff before deadlines, deliverables, or coordination items become at risk.
• Create clear, organized, and useful notes that support communication, follow-through, and team accountability.

Team Mentorship and QA/QC

• Mentor junior team members by providing guidance, support, and practical technical direction.
• Train junior staff on their responsibilities, documentation expectations, and internal processes.
• Review the work of junior staff and provide QA/QC for assigned tasks.
• Model strong work habits, professional communication, and thoughtful problem-solving for developing team members.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment where questions, learning, and accountability are part of the workflow.

Project Awareness and Business Understanding

• Begin to understand project fees, budgets, and how project work relates to billing.
• Support leadership by recognizing how time, scope, staffing, and deliverables affect project performance.
• Assist leadership with assigned tasks that support project delivery, client service, and internal team coordination.
• Participate in AEC organizations and begin building a professional network that supports personal growth and firm visibility.

Communication and Professional Presence

• Communicate effectively with teammates, leaders, clients, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
• Demonstrate professional behavior inside and outside the office.
• Anticipate next steps, ask thoughtful questions, and raise concerns early when additional clarity or support is needed.

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 4 years of related professional experience.
• Solid working knowledge of landscape architecture documentation, construction document production, planting design, technical coordination, and company preferred software used for drawing, project planning, and office communication.
• Ability to manage multi-step tasks, coordinate project information, anticipate next steps, and complete work within established deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface professionally with teammates, leadership, clients, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
• Interest in understanding project fees, billing, and project performance, with active or growing participation in AEC organizations and professional networking.
• Strong work ethic, accountability, positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to contribute to a high-performing project team.

The noise level on the project site work environment can be high but is low in the office environment.
