Sterling And Wilson Renewable Energy is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of utility-scale Solar PV EPC projects. You will coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, ensuring safety, quality and on-time handover to clients.

The role requires strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams, sharp cost control, and proactive risk management to meet project targets and contractual obligations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
  • HSE certification such as NEBOSH/IOSH will be an advantage.

Role & responsibilities
Job Purpose

To lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of utility-scale Solar PV projects, ensuring successful execution within the approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, HSE and contractual requirements.

The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, clients and project stakeholders from project mobilization through final handover.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Project Management

  • Take overall responsibility for project execution from mobilization to completion and handover.
  • Establish project execution strategy, plans, milestones and delivery targets.
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved within approved scope, cost and schedule.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, procurement, construction, quality, HSE, commercial and commissioning.

2. Project Planning & Schedule

  • Develop and maintain the overall project execution schedule.
  • Monitor critical milestones, project progress and key deliverables.
  • Identify delays, risks and bottlenecks and implement recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with planning/project controls teams for progress measurement, forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

3. Solar PV / EPC Execution

  • Manage execution of utility-scale Solar PV EPC projects.
  • Oversee civil, electrical and mechanical works including PV modules, mounting structures, trackers, DC/AC systems, inverters, transformers, MV/HV systems, substations and electrical BoP.
  • Coordinate grid connection, transmission/OHTL, SCADA and communication works where applicable.
  • Ensure effective interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams.

4. Engineering Management

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, BOQs and technical submissions.
  • Ensure timely review and approval of engineering documents.
  • Manage RFIs, design changes, technical queries and engineering interfaces.
  • Ensure approved design changes are properly incorporated into project execution.

5. Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Coordinate with procurement and supply-chain teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of critical equipment and materials.
  • Monitor procurement schedules and identify potential supply-chain risks.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are available in line with construction requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics, delivery and site material requirements.

6. Construction Management

  • Provide overall direction to the Construction Manager and site execution teams.
  • Monitor civil, electrical and mechanical construction progress.
  • Ensure contractors and subcontractors perform as per approved schedule, quality and HSE requirements.
  • Resolve major site execution issues and construction interfaces.

7. Commercial & Cost Management

  • Monitor project budget, cash flow and overall cost performance.
  • Identify and control potential cost overruns.
  • Review variations, change orders, claims and commercial issues.
  • Coordinate with contracts/commercial teams on contractual obligations and project claims.
  • Ensure project execution remains aligned with approved commercial targets.

8. Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, consultants and key vendors.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, manpower and resource deployment.
  • Ensure contractual deliverables and milestones are achieved.
  • Lead resolution of major contractual and execution-related issues.

9. Quality & HSE

  • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC plans and technical specifications.
  • Monitor NCRs, inspections, testing and punch-list closure.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements and statutory regulations.
  • Drive a strong safety and quality culture throughout the project.

10. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary interface with the client, consultant and key project stakeholders.
  • Lead project review meetings and provide regular progress reports.
  • Manage client expectations, approvals, technical issues and project-level escalations.
  • Maintain effective relationships with government/statutory authorities and other stakeholders where required.

11. Risk & Change Management

  • Identify, assess and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Manage project changes and assess their impact on cost, schedule and scope.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical project issues.

12. Commissioning & Project Handover

  • Lead coordination of pre-commissioning, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure mechanical completion and punch-list closure.
  • Coordinate grid connection and performance testing where applicable.
  • Ensure completion of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test reports and handover documentation.
  • Ensure smooth final handover of the project to the client/O&M team.

Education

Experience
  • 12-18+ years of overall experience in project execution and management
  • Minimum 5+ years in Project Manager / Project Lead / Senior Project Management roles
  • Strong experience in Solar PV / Renewable Energy EPC projects
  • Experience in utility-scale Solar PV projects preferred
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary EPC projects and large project teams
  • Strong exposure to engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning
  • Experience in project cost control, contracts, claims and change management
  • International / Middle East / Africa project experience will be an advantage
