Job summary

Stratosphere Quality is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee quality assurance operations in Detroit, MI and surrounding areas. This field-based role is customer-facing and not remote, with time spent at customer facilities and some home-office planning.

The position requires strong leadership, five years of manufacturing quality experience in ISO environments, and the ability to manage multiple projects with off-shift hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least five years of direct manufacturing experience in a quality systems or ISO environment.
• Experience supervising teams and coaching supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality assurance projects across the assigned region, ensuring customer requirements and SQ procedures are met.
• Coach and develop Project Supervisors to improve team performance and day-to-day site management.
• Visit customer facilities to review operations, address concerns and maintain strong working relationships.
• Coordinate new project launches, including staffing, equipment, site setup and material handling.
• Monitor project quality, productivity, labor costs and profit margins.
• Review financial results and understand how staffing, overtime and travel costs affect project profitability.
• Work with the Sales team to meet customer commitments and identify opportunities to expand SQ’s services within existing customer facilities.
• Address customer concerns, staffing challenges and operational issues, including those that arise outside regular business hours.
• Adjust staffing and resources as customer requirements change.

Project Manager

Location: Detroit, MI area

Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually $350 monthly car allowance

Schedule: Typically 1st shift but based on business needs, including off-shift hours and weekends

About the Role

Stratosphere Quality (SQ) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee quality assurance operations across Detroit, MI and the surrounding area.

SQ provides third-party quality services to manufacturers, including inspection, sorting and containment. As Project Manager, you’ll oversee customer projects, support Project Supervisors and ensure our teams meet quality, staffing and performance expectations.

This is a field-based, customer-facing position, not a remote job. Administrative work and planning may be completed from your home office, but you’ll spend time at customer facilities reviewing operations, working with customers and supporting your team.

Manufacturing operations don’t always follow a standard schedule. You’ll need to be available to support your team and respond to customer needs during off-shift hours, evenings and weekends when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least five years of direct manufacturing experience in a quality systems or ISO environment.
• At least two years of supervisory experience.
• Experience managing customer and employee relationships.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop supervisors.
• Understanding of labor costs, staffing and their impact on project profitability.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence working directly with customers and identifying opportunities to grow existing business.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently from a home office while maintaining a regular presence at customer sites.
• Availability to support business needs outside regular working hours, including off-shifts, evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
