Title: Project Manager – Field Operations
Employment Type: Full‑Time, Salaried with benefit package including 401(k)
Position Overview
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls project activities required for effective management of detention projects. Supervises installation labor and subcontractors. Works with financial reports, contracts, management reports, and tools to define project problems and assure project profitability while ensuring quality of installation and employee development.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule engineering, installation, and subcontracting activities, maintaining current job plans and specifications.
- Work with engineering department on design and drafting phases, coordinate procurement of materials and supplies, and manage the project installation plan.
- Review various information sources to determine necessary changes in design, contract price, and installation plan, implementing agreed changes to scope.
- Maintain construction schedule and coordinate task scheduling with other trades.
- Select and monitor performance of subcontractors and internally, keeping all parties informed on progress and status.
- Maintain all digital records, including job status, material purchases, contacts, changes, submittals, quotes, and correspondence.
- Participate in estimating projects and site surveys as needed.
- Implement quality assurance program, present a professional image to customers, develop relationships with decision makers, walk job sites to ensure quality installation, and update customers on project status.
- Monitor job status, control costs, provide labor and material requirement information, assist in resource allocation forecasting, and review job financial reports.
- Analyze time cards, devise and implement plans to remedy job problems, ensuring project profitability.
- Conduct training and development, staying current on products, processes, and materials, and work with installers on concepts and product training.
- Oversee job closure: manage as‑builds, complete paperwork, ensure purchase orders, send warranty letters, turn jobs over to service, billing, and final reporting.
Supervisory Duties
- Supervises installers, apprentices, and subcontractors.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical capacity desirable.
- Project management experience; IT Project+ or PMP certification desired.
Skills and Abilities
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering and installation of low voltage, audio, IP video, PLC, networking, or related systems.
- Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, relay logic, and operations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good subcontracting and cost control skills, understanding of job financial reports.
- Experience with IT equipment (servers, databases, networking) preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching and lifting small objects and operating office equipment.
Work Environment
- Team oriented. Office environment clean, orderly, well‑lit, ventilated, low to moderate noise.
- Site work conditions typical of construction projects.
