Job summary

Meridian Stone Search is partnering with an established construction firm to hire a Project Manager focused on energy and utility infrastructure in the Chicago area. You will lead projects from planning through turnover, including BESS, power generation, and electrical infrastructure, coordinating with clients, engineers, and field teams.

The role requires 2–5+ years in construction or PM, strong budgeting and scheduling skills, and willingness to work in office with 20–30% travel.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of relevant construction or project management experience.
• Experience with energy, power, or utility infrastructure projects; BESS experience is valuable.
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination skills.
• Ability to interpret drawings and work through technical challenges with engineers and field teams.
• Clear communication and entrepreneurial ownership of projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from preconstruction and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Develop and maintain budgets, schedules, procurement plans, and cost forecasts.
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, utility requirements, and long-lead equipment deliveries.
• Support estimating, proposal development, subcontractor selection, and contract negotiations.
• Oversee project financials, including billing, cost tracking, and change orders.
• Lead project meetings and keep clients and project partners informed.
• Identify and resolve risks affecting safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
• Visit project sites to support field teams and keep work progressing.
• Coordinate startup, testing, and turnover activities.

Meridian Stone Search is partnering with an established construction firm to hire a Project Manager focused on energy and utility infrastructure. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys technically challenging work, takes initiative, and wants responsibility for projects from early planning through completion.

You’ll manage projects involving large scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), power generation, and electrical infrastructure, working closely with clients, engineers, equipment suppliers, and construction teams.

What You’ll Do

• Manage projects from preconstruction and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
