Job summary

ExplorUS is seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction projects from initiation to completion. You will define goals, manage resources, mitigate risks, and lead teams to deliver on time, within budget, and to scope.

You will coordinate with Federal, state, and local agencies, read architectural and civil plans, and ensure quality control. This full-time role requires work in our corporate office with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of project management experience on ground-up construction, including civil work and utilities.
  • Experience working with Federal Agencies is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scheduling – Developing detailed project plans, coordinating with Operations teams and outside consultants/vendors.
  • Budget Management – Controlling project costs and tracking expenses.
  • Resource Allocation – Managing RFPs and engaging consultants/vendors; coordinating material procurement.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination – Leading project teams and assigning tasks.
  • Risk Management and Problem Solving – Identifying risks and resolving issues.
  • Stakeholder Communication – Engaging leadership and agencies in approvals and reporting progress.
  • Quality Control and Closing – Ensuring deliverables meet standards and completing close-out documentation.
  • Other duties as requested.

Summary of Position

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a construction project from initiation to completion. Key duties include helping to define project goals, managing resources, mitigating risks, facilitating communication among stakeholders and leading teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and according to scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Scheduling – Developing detailed project plans, programming with the Operations teams, creating timelines and coordinating with outside consultants and vendors
  • Budget Management – Controlling project costs, preparing cost estimates and tracking expenses throughout the project timeline
  • Resource Allocation – Executing the RFP and bid process to engage consultants, contractors and outside vendors. Coordination with operations for the procurement of materials and equipment required for the project
  • Team Leadership and Coordination – Lead project teams, assigning tasks and facilitating collaboration
  • Risk Management and Problem Solving – Identifying potential risks, overcoming challenges and solving issues that arise
  • Stakeholder Communication – Engage corporate leadership and partner agencies (Federal, State and Local) in the approval process, managing expectations and reporting on progress
  • Quality Control and Closing – Ensuring final deliverables meet quality standards and completing project closure documentation including final project cost reconciliation
  • Other duties as requested
Key Requirements
  • Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor able to communicate effectively with various partner agencies (NPS, USFS, State Parks, etc.)
  • Ability to read construction plans including technical drawings and specifications from designers and engineers (architectural, landscape, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil)
  • Able to work full time in a corporate office setting and travel as required
  • Adept with MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Work with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) on obtaining permits and approvals
  • Effective coordination with various departments within the organization (Finance, Lodging, Retail, Food & Beverage, Design)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Education and/or Experience

Education: Bachelors of Science in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, minimum.

Experience: 3-5+ years’ experience in Project Management, including on-site experience with new ground-up construction including civil work and utilities. Working with Federal Agencies a plus.
