Job summary

Consulting Solutions is seeking a Transmission Project Manager to oversee planned and emergent capital construction projects for a major electric utility within its geographic footprint.

This role leads cross-functional teams of design engineers, procurement, construction management, and planning personnel, and ensures cost forecasts and schedules are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Associate degree or two-year college degree required.
• Working knowledge of project management principles.
• Experience in project decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Proven cross-functional team leadership.
• Experience leading construction or utility projects preferred.
• PMP, CAPM, CMII, PE certifications or equivalent are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple transmission capital construction projects from planning through completion.
• Lead cross-functional project teams across engineering, procurement, construction management, planning.
• Develop and maintain accurate cost forecasts.
• Maintain and monitor project schedules throughout the lifecycle.
• Track milestones and ensure timely completion.
• Identify risks and potential schedule or cost impacts.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between stakeholders.
• Apply project management principles to support execution.
• Make project-related decisions using critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Conduct approximately one site visit per week.
• Build relationships with stakeholders from staff to senior leadership.

Job description

Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days per week in office

Travel: Approximately one site visit per week; no overnight travel required. Personal vehicle required for site visits with mileage reimbursement.

Position Overview

The Transmission Project Manager will be responsible for managing planned and emergent capital construction projects within the geographic footprint of a major electric utility.

This position will lead cross-functional project teams consisting of design engineers, material procurement specialists, construction management and planning personnel, and construction crews associated with each project.

The Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate project cost forecasts and schedules throughout the entire project lifecycle while ensuring project milestones and deliverables are completed on time.

This position will typically manage multiple White or Green I projects in accordance with the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple transmission capital construction projects from planning through completion.
• Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of engineering, procurement, construction management, planning, and construction personnel.

• Build effective working relationships with stakeholders ranging from individual contributors through senior department leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
• Associate degree or graduation from a two-year college or university.
• Working knowledge of project management principles.
• Project-related work experience.
• Experience with project decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
• Project leadership experience.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Previous utility industry experience.
• Knowledge of construction management.
• Experience with project scheduling and cost controls.
• Utility technical certifications or training.
• PMP or CAPM certification.
• CMII certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
