Contract: 1 year

Interview: 2 interviews; 1st virtual with manager in London, 2nd in person presentation at Barings

Job Summary

The Enterprise Delivery team at Barings is seeking an experienced project manager to join its team. This position will be in the Barings’ Charlotte NC office.

As a project manager within the Delivery team, this individual will be responsible for leading various activities along the strategic project life cycle including scoping, planning/design, execution, testing, delivery and closing.

The candidate will need to oversee the successful delivery of strategic initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will bring both project management expertise and deep knowledge of fund accounting to ensure alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations.

The project centers around Investment Fund Accounting technology and process transition.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assists the business with defining the scope and milestones of projects to ensure timely delivery.
  • Project Planning & Execution:
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Manage project resources, risks, and dependencies effectively.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including fund accountants, technology teams, and compliance staff.
  • Provide clear direction and resolve conflicts to keep the project on track.
  • Foster collaboration and accountability among team members.
  • Organizes resources during the planning, execution, testing, delivery, and closing phase of projects; communicates project issues and status to key stakeholders and PMO management.
  • Ensures ongoing global project communication via status update and decision meetings during each phase of the project.
  • Prepares project reporting for senior management regarding the status of project, scope changes, delivery issues.
  • Assists the project team in developing any required workflows and associated documentation around new processes developed in the project.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Technology Integration:
  • Support system implementation projects, including fund accounting software upgrades or migrations.
  • Ensure systems are configured to meet accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Three/Four-year college/university degree in accounting, finance or related business field
  • 7+ years of project management experience including the management of large scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of fund accounting principles, including NAV calculation, financial reporting, and compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • PMP Certification (preferred not essential)
  • Experience managing a range of technology projects.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Deep Experience of Agile methodologies, i.e., Scrum, Kanban
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft products and industry standard delivery tools: Office (Clarity, Project Management tools like Smartsheet, HP Quality Center or other testing products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Azure Dev Ops)
  • Experience delivering technology, data, people and process transition in Private Asset Management ecosystems
  • Experience of working with Investment Operations teams and roles
  • Experience of working with the Black Rock Solutions eFront product
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • CFA, CAIA , CPA, or other financial services designation preferred
  • Previous experience within a program management, strategic change office, or consulting organization
  • PMI/Prince 2 or Agile certification preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft AzDo Boards
