Job summary

Arkel Constructors is seeking a Project Manager for construction projects in Baton Rouge, LA. The role plans, directs, coordinates and budgets activities across multiple sites, liaising with estimators, superintendents and foremen to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field and 5–10 years of experience, with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.

• 5-10 years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with road and site construction projects.
• Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
• Confer with supervisors and foremen to discuss work procedures, complaints and construction problems.
• Initiate and maintain liaison with owners and other contacts to facilitate project activities.
• Monitor and control project through administrative direction of on-site foremen to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
• Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines throughout the workday.
• Represent company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
• Work with contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and maintain good client relationships.
• May requisition supplies and materials to complete project.
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers and clients.
• Formulate reports concerning work progress, costs and scheduling.

Work environment

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in primary in indoor conditions but can be performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Expected hours of work.

This is a full-time position. Office hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday 7:30am to 2:30pm. Must be available to work any hours outside of office hours as job demands require.

Preferred education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
• 5-10 years experience preferred
