Job description

Who We Are

PDR is a boutique workplace design firm with offices in Houston and Austin. For more than 45 years, we've partnered with organizations to create workplaces that strengthen culture, support business goals, and improve the employee experience. What sets us apart isn't simply the projects we design, it's how we deliver them. Our teams are collaborative. Our leadership is accessible. Every voice matters.

Why Join Us

At PDR, we believe exceptional workplace design begins with exceptional leadership. As a Project Manager, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced designers, architects, strategists, and technical leaders on projects ranging from small but impactful workplaces to large-scale headquarter transformations. This role is about more than managing schedules and budgets. It's about creating clarity, building trust, anticipating challenges, and empowering project teams to do their best work. If you're a collaborative leader who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and guiding teams toward a common goal, we'd love to meet you.

Who We Are Looking For

  • You're someone who naturally brings organization to complexity.

  • You enjoy leading teams, building relationships, and creating clarity for others.

  • You're proactive rather than reactive, comfortable making decisions, and confident facilitating conversations with clients, consultants, and internal teams.

  • Most importantly, you understand that successful projects are built on communication, accountability, and trust.

  • At PDR, Project Managers don't simply coordinate projects - they lead them.

  • Our Project Management Framework provides a clear roadmap for project delivery from pursuit through construction. It establishes consistent processes, defined leadership touchpoints, and scalable expectations that allow Project Managers to focus on what matters most:

  • Building trusted client relationships

  • Leading multidisciplinary teams

  • Protecting project financial health

  • Maintaining alignment between design, schedule, and budget

  • Delivering an exceptional client experience

Essential Responsibilities

You’ll serve as the operational leader for each project, creating structure, alignment, and accountability from project kickoff through construction.

Project Leadership

  • Develop project plans, staffing strategies, budgets, and schedules.

  • Guide projects through each phase while maintaining alignment between scope, schedule, fee, and client expectations.

  • Identify risks early and proactively develop solutions.

  • Apply PDR's Project Management Framework to support consistent project delivery.

Client Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with clients through proactive communication and transparency.

  • Lead project kickoffs, milestone meetings, and ongoing client coordination.

  • Partner with the Principal-in-Charge to support long-term client success.

Team Leadership

  • Lead internal project and phase kickoffs.

  • Coordinate designers, architects, consultants, and internal leadership throughout the project.

  • Remove obstacles, maintain accountability, and keep teams moving forward.

  • Foster collaboration and create an environment where teams can do their best work.

Financieal & Operational Leadership

  • Monitor project budgets, staffing, schedules, and financial performance.

  • Track project health and recommend adjustments when needed.

  • Manage consultant coordination, project documentation, and project administration.

  • Identify scope changes and support additional service discussions when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • 7+ years of experience managing commercial interior architectural projects through all phases of the project from conception to construction.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Dynamics or other similar CRM system, Microsoft Project or other similar scheduling and planning software).

  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.

  • Working knowledge of commercial construction practices and building codes.

  • Workplace interiors experience strangely preferred.

  • LEED or WELL accreditation is a plus.

  • Revit experience is a plus.

What We Offer

At PDR, we believe great work happens when great people enjoy working together. We invest in our people through mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to lead meaningful projects.
