Qualifications

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and successful completion of assigned construction projects. This individual will work closely with Superintendents, clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and SSC leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to SSC's high standards of quality and client satisfaction.


This is an on-site position requiring the Project Manager to maintain a presence on job sites in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Preconstruction


  • Participate in estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction activities

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and procurement strategies

  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals and participate in buyout activities

  • Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining project quality and design intent


Project Execution


  • Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed project schedules

  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary

  • Ensure compliance with project contracts, drawings, specifications, and applicable regulations

  • Review and negotiate subcontract agreements and scopes of work

  • Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project correspondence

  • Effectively manage project budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance

  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and payment applications

  • Prepare cost forecasts and monthly project reporting

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks throughout the project lifecycle

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and project stakeholders

  • Lead project meetings and provide clear communication regarding schedule, budget, and project status

  • Collaborate closely with field leadership to ensure alignment between project planning and execution

  • Promote positive team dynamics and foster a culture of respect, professionalism, accountability, and collaboration across all project participants


Quality & Safety


  • Support and reinforce SSC's commitment to jobsite safety

  • Conduct regular project reviews and field observations

  • Ensure all work meets quality expectations and project requirements

  • Participate in safety initiatives and maintain required certifications and training


Qualifications

Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

  • 5-10 years of progressive project management experience with a general contractor, ideally with ground-up construction

  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, contracts, and subcontractors

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project delivery processes

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

  • Ability to manage shifting priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook


Preferred


  • Experience managing luxury custom residential projects

  • Experience with large-scale residential or commercial construction projects

  • Experience building in mountainous environments

  • Proficiency in Procore and Bluebeam

  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions


  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate construction environments safely

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, and rain

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and travel between job sites as needed

  • Ability to use a computer and mobile devices for extended periods
